32 Lashed FT

Hi all,

I’m looking to buy my first pair of boots, and i’m wondering if any of you have experiences with the 32 Lashed FTs.  From what I read they seem pretty well regarded.  I’m still a beginner (I can link my turns - most of the time smile), and I was hoping to get something that I can progress with and not want to replace a year or two down the track - if they last that long.

STM in Bondi Junction seem to have a few 2010/11 models on sale for reasonable prices (for Australia) that i’ll go and check out.  My feet are on the narrow side though, and I read here that they have wider toeboxs?

Hey there!

I have a pair of 32 JP Walker Boots and i have to say they are fantastic! My foot is pretty normal and i do notice a little bit of room in the toe box area of the boot but its never been a problem for me.

I highly recommend them as they will easily last you for a few years, I’ve had mine for 20 days on snow so far and they still look brand new lol just dont put your boot into your edges of the board in the lifts cos that will cut into your boot, if you want to rest your board, rest the heelcup of your binding onto your boot smile

Anyway just to let you know these are my favourite boots so far and my last 2 pairs were, 1. Burton Moto and 2. DC Ceptors (these are pretty much top of the line) and IMO the 32s kill them both in terms of Comfort! For me comfort > performance as i like to ride Medium Stiff boots, with agressive bindings and aggressive boards.

Cheerio

Hi lythari and welcome o boardworld,
Your best bet when it comes to boots is to go to a store like STM and get the boots fitted properly, truest me on this one I have learned it hard way and my feet suffered big time.

Hi lythari and welcome. Good advice there from lanox ...

Yeah, have to agree with lanox!!!!!

While 32 make a great boot, the one that fits your foot is the best!!!!!

And welcome to BW, lythari!!!!! shaka

Hey lythari, welcome to Boardworld.

The 32 Lashed (FT and regular lace) are excellent boots. Heat moldable, lightweight, mid flex. Just a really good all-round boot.

The most important thing is to go to the store and go through a full boot fitting process. While the boots are very good, they might not work for your foot shape. Don’t set your heart on one particular brand or model. Try on a full range of boots and listen to the advice the boot fitter gives you. If you are going to STM, definitely speak to Rob upstairs.

Thanks for your replies.

I’ll probably drop by STM tonight (hurrah for late night shopping) and see what they can do for me.

Both myself and Dark wear thirtytwo boots and I reckon they are the best I have ever worn!!!

This is the 4th season I’ve been riding the 32 lashed and I’m on my 3rd pair. I dislike the FT model as the last time I looked the lacing didn’t come up the tongue as high as the regular lace up.

My first pair lasted me two seasons, although they are battered to shit. To be fair, I did two seasons teaching with them so they did take more of a beating than most peoples would.
My second pair’s (last years model) heel started coming off one day and I got it epoxied down - this is the most common problem amongst 32 boots.
I melted that pairs liner on the fire and so I ordered the same pair (same year) again in a different colour scheme.

The sizing difference between all 3 has been different, despite always being the same size. The second pair had heaps of space, this new pair has almost no space and I’ve worn them for about 2 weeks now. I can barely fit my feet into my first pair (which I still have for some reason).

I’ve never had a boot that left my feet feeling good after a day of riding, of even a few hours, but the 32 lashed has been the one boot I found that didn’t absolutely kill my foot.

The other thing I’ve found is that my foot is always wet in these boots. After asking others about how wet their 32’s get, I’m thinking this is just my foot being extra sweaty, but the boots are completely soaked at the end of a day so I’m in two minds about that.

Well, I dropped by STM tonight.  They had nothing in my size other than a pair of 32 TM-twos and a Burton Hail.  The TM-twos fit fine, but I suspect they are a bit too stiff for someone of my skill level.  The Burton Hails were fine as well, but I sort of have my heart set on the 32s.  Besides I like the 32 colour schemes better smile  They’re going to see if they can order in a pair of Lashed boots for me.

The famous Rob was there, but he was busy with another customer so I ended up chatting with Dan? instead.  From what I overheard of his conversations he definitely knows his stuff.

go through a full boot fitting process.

My boot fitting process just consisted of measuring the size of my foot, and trying on a pair of boots for size. it felt rather anti-climatic :|  Should I have expected more black magic?

if the tm-2’s fit you well, go with them. They will break in after a few days and feel perfect. The boot that is the perfect flex for you in the store will pack out and be too soft.
I’ll be riding the lashed lace ups next season

Lythari do not get scared of old man jokes, the more you hang around here you will realize his jokes don’t get any better.

I agree with this. I’m not necessarily saying to get the Team2s but keep in mind they will definitely soften up, even after just a few days riding. Boots end up significantly softer in flex than how they feel in the store. Just something to keep in mind.
