Shin/Knee guards

Avatar

Anyone wears them ?

If so which one do you have ?

I am thinking of purchasing some from POC but I am not sure which model to get as I can’t try them on with the boots and not sure how they will fit as the boot alone comes up quiet high.

This are 3 models I was looking at

http://www.pocsports.com/en/product/1395/joint-vpd-2-0-long-knee

http://www.pocsports.com/en/product/1397/joint-vpd-2-0-shins

Thanks

Hey mate, just changed the title of the thread as I had no idea what you ment by Sheen Guards until I opened the thread wink

I wouldnt get shin guards unless they sat above the boot line. you dont want anything in the boot other than your leg and socks.

Knee guards can be benificial for sure. As long as they are comfortable and not restricting your movement, they will make it more pleasent when you fall forward onto the knees when riding park features or just in general. I’d say try some on with boots and outwear before making a purchase if possible

Grrr it’s this auto spell freaking iPad I swear lol.

Yeah I agree with you about shin/knee guards been above boot line i guess that is my main reason i posted on here ,my problem is I don’t know who stocks POC gear, I know STM had some POC gear but I don’t think they stock it any more.

I was leaning towards the first link but I would love to be able to try them on.

Something like that would be good. Another good option for knee pads is 661 gear. They are a mountain bike brand that do protection. They have some really good knee ones, both soft and hard shell. Boarding you would want a softshell like you linked. The 661 ones are desinged for biking so they alow for a lot of movement in the knee more than the average snowboard movement requires, so I assume the would be comfy to ride in. The Evo is their best one for this use https://www.sixsixone.com/Catalog_661Bike.aspx?id=83d9a0f2-1901-44c4-a225-62f7e085e4d7&product=f8a90ec7-d588-4262-8c52-3540a0909afe

Thanks for your input K2. I saw those while I was googling however those ones will not protect your shins at all, that is what led me towards POC as they have knee plus they cover the shin as well to to some degree and the rest will be covered by your boots I think. Now that’s what it looks like to me but I am not certain of it.

Have you had trouble with hitting shins? I find if I fall forwards most the times my knees will cop it, not shins. Only time I can think shins might is if you have a nasty spill on a rail

Yes nasty one on rails, however that would be due to unexperiance and been a beginner wanting to be a pro if that makes any sense.

But even then, its pretty much you knee. I dont know how high you boots come up lanox, but mine come up fairly close to the knee (i think) so a knee brace/protector would be beneficial.

i have wacked my shins on a rail when a 50-50 slipped out. so much pain! but I wouldn’t wear shin pads…unless you were planning on hitting rails regularly.

i found the soft ones dont protect enough for my likely
i bought the RED knee/shin combo….have not used the shin guard ever…you can have if you want to try it LOL

i use Black Diamond Telekneesis Kneepads

full range flexibility
locking mechanisms does come loose sometimes though
easily fixed by adding velcro strips or something else handy

Yeh, I think the normal knee ones would cover enough of the top of hte shin. The shin ones would go past the boot.

I find knee guards are enough for me but I’ve heard of others using shin guards…. they must be very ‘short’ guards or wear them high on the shin so they don’t go into their boot though

The black diamond that you use to they cover your sheen as well ?

Could you put your boots on and knee/shin on and take a photo plz lol if it’s not 2 much trouble.
