There has been a bit of a chat lately about on hill (& surrounds) dining and I thought I would start a thread where people can share their thoughts.
Place a review of a food location either on the hill, in the village or nearby (ie in Jindy or somewhere else on route to the snow)
Tell us what you liked or didn’t like about it and give it a rating.
For a bit of fun lets make the ratings snowboards. ie 3 out 5 snowboards. (1 being dismal and 5 being excellent no - complaints!)
To keep it current please only post if you have dined there in the current season. We all know how quickly a change of ownership and/ or Chef can totally change a place. (A date you dined would also be good)
On Friday night (6/7) Dylan and I went to the new pop up Beach Burrito Co. in old town Jindabyne (upstairs in the location of the old Balcony nightclub).
I was quite excited about this venue when I heard it had opened up, but recently there had been a few negative comments on the Jindabyne Noticeboard facebook group. So I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I loved it!
The place was pretty packed, but we got a table. There was a guy playing guitar on stage, which gave the place a nice atmosphere, but we are not so sure about the “live” aspect of his performance.
Great deal on 5 for $30 Corona’s and Dylan noticed there was a happy hour where it made them even cheaper.
The food came out reasonably quick, and was reasonably price. I had the Pulled Beef Quesadilla and Dylan had the Prawn one. both only $13.95. The same price as in the City locations. Which is resort locations translates into CHEAP!
Also there was a girl in there who was about 6yo (at first I thought it was PP and looked around for Spaz, but then realised she is no longer that age anymore!). This was about 8pm on Friday. So I am guessing until a certain time kids are allowed. But I suspect the location would make parents think twice, so i don’t think it will ever get packed with families. (this is either negative or positive depending on how you view these things)
I am giving this 5 out 5 snowboards! Cause as per the ratings above I honestly could not fault it!

I already been doin my homework for Japan!!!!!
hahaha ozgirl i am rating beach burrito aswell, However i give them 2 snowboards on the verge of 1 1/2 though.
Now dont get me wrong i love mexican and definately has nothing to do with that, my review is based on the quality of there product, i suppose it is very hard to replicate a franchise especially as its only a POP-UP beach burrito however the food was so bland, and had no flavbour aswell. I am very familar with Beach Burrito as i live in Tempe 2min away from Newtown in sydney and the rest of my family live in the Sutherland Shire so im also familar with the Cronulla store, Beach burrito food at these two stores is so good its not funny the restraunts also provide an awesome setting decor wise etc etc so when we were in Jindy we were all pumped to find out Beach Burrito was there,
Thanks Sukah,
When did you eat there? There were complaints earlier in the season but maybe they have pulled their socks up? Not sure how experienced the staff were early in the season.
I actually really enjoyed the flavours. Not too spicy and not too smokey (i was worried about the smokey salsa being too smokey).
Sounds yum Oz, will have to give it ago in a couple weeks!!!
I really like the restaurant up at Eagles nest. Expensive, but very very yummy followed with a shot of Glacier Ice!!! (I was gone off one shot!)
Oz what about Brodburger on the way to the snow
When did you last eat there Blizz?
Mizu was saying it recently changed hands?
Not sure if had changed hands oz!!!!!
It was supposed to be refurbished though, but I haven’t been in there since, so it may very well have a new owner!!!!!
By the sounds of blizz sayin that the food bein great, it would be a good guess!!!!!
I agree Mizu, and would probably try Eagles Nest off Blizz recommendation but it is just so fickle down there that things change season to season.
I don’t think I would be comfortable taking my work crew there if no one has dinned there this season (because I haven’t dined there ever either).
If the food is great, I reckon they would def get a buzz outta eatin up there!!!!!
Should be a great place to view the flare run/fireworks also!!!!!
