New York City, the city known to most as the ‘Capital of the world’, adds yet another iconic attraction to it’s bill, Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC, the most iconic, grass-roots bowl competition and the biggest week of skateboarding culture of its kind.
Presented by Vans and sanctioned by World Cup Skateboarding (WCS), Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC is a week dedicated to celebrating art, music and true skateboard culture. The newest addition to the Internationally recognised series will take place at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark and in true form, will showcase the worlds’ best Pro and Master’s bowl skateboarders as they compete for a total prize purse of $US50,000, a healthy prize purse for an event in it’s first year.

WORLD’S BEST SKATERS TURN NYC ONTO THE PLEASURES OF CONCRETE
The countdown is on with only four weeks to go until the inaugural Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC, a three-day skateboard celebration taking place October 4-6. NYC will see the finest international skateboarders come together as the eight-year old BOWL-A-RAMA™ series comes Stateside for the first time with top names such as Pedro Barros, Bucky Lasek, and Rune Glifberg vying for the title of Vans BOWL-A-RAMA NYC champion.
The weekend kicks off Thursday with the East Coast celebration of the 20th anniversary of Steve Caballero’s Half Cab shoe at the House of Vans in Brooklyn and continues on Saturday with the latest addition to the BOWL-A-RAMA series at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark. In true form, the contest showcases the worlds’ best Pro and Master’s bowl skateboarders as they compete for a total prize purse of $55,000 (US). BOWL-A-RAMA wraps up on Saturday with The Party Party.
The PRO division is one of the strongest ever assembled, with a list of riders including Kalani David, Nolan Monroe, Josh Rodriguez, Otavio Neto, Charlie Blair, Kevin Kowalski, Josh Stafford, Sky Siljeg, Nilo Pecannha, Omar Hassan, Steve Pineiro and Australia’s Jack Fardell, all looking to skate their way to a spot on the podium.
Five-time back-to-back BOWL-A-RAMA Masters champion Steve Caballero will be going head to head with one of the world’s best & first time BOWL-A-RAMA entrant Chris Miller. Other MASTER riders competing include Sergie Ventura, Nicky Guerrero, Lester Kasai, Eddie Elguera, Pat Ngoho, Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi, and Jeff Grosso.

Action sports fans all over the world are gearing up to witness the world’s best skateboarders, coming together for the inaugural Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark.

New York City saw the who’s who of the skateboarding world for both Pro’s and Master’s divisions as they turned up the heat for the inaugural Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark.
In true BOWL-A-RAMA style the skateboardinggods held off the rain so that NYC witnessed history in the making as the best skate legends in the world came together with the next generation for the first ever Vans BOWL-A-RAMA NYC.
The newest addition to the awards ceremony was the Spirit of Kessler Award in honor of the late Andy Kessler. The award was for any rider across the whole competition that best exemplified Andy’s spirit in their skating and general stoke. The legendary George Orton took out the award that was selected by Kessler’s oldest and best friend Puppet and had skaters and the spectators in an ovation.
The Pro’s and Masters were tight with Teenage Brazilian skateboarding sensation and now seventime BOWL-A-RAMA™ winner Pedro Barros taking out first place for the Pro division, closely followed by 14 year old and Red Bull team mate Alex Sorgente, and in third place was Ben Hatchell.
In the Masters division Lance Mountain absolutely killed it and come in first with Steve Caballero in second followed by Eddie “Ela Gato” Elbuera in third.
