(Trip Report) Camping at Thredbo - A How To Guide :P

Avatar

I agree, above the tree line the tarp would not be that beneficial and most likely end up bein a UFO, but at a place like Diggings I reckon that it would be well worth it!!!!!

The tarp will act as a secondary fly and take some pressure off the tents poles and ropes!!!!!

Not disagreeing Mizu. My point is more if a tent is set up correctly then the tarp shouldn’t be needed..well for most tents wink (awesome to have though and especially cool for providing a place to sit n drink/play cards if raining). Also as someone who hammock camps and sleeps under tarps when hiking, if someone can’t pitch a tent with the instructions, they’ve got bucklies of getting a tarp set up well in crap weather wink

Lol. No no. Not at all. Though I think the gals in oz’s pics may have struggled with a tarp that day. I know I’ve have many a tent n tarp argument that’s why I always play with mine in the yard. My current 4 season tent may as well have instructions in another language as they were useless. Just needs practice…but I got there lol
edit here’s the beast in question. Pain in the posterior the first time you pitch it

Lol you nearly made me pee my pants. I’ve got to say I still lament over not getting the dakine. I really liked it and the BCA is a touch too big. If only Id listened to you amongst all that riff raff

A tarp can replace a tent but not the other way around, and they have so many other benefits/uses.
I always have a small tarp folded up in my car someplace. At home there a dozen.

Dan, you need to watch some BearGrills.
