Skateboarding Photography Contest 2012

Avatar

I never posted this because at the time I shot it I was shooting too many similar photos I think. I like it a bit more now, so I’m posting it. But I still don’t really know about it.

Anyway it’s Tom Slater with a 50-50 in Sydney. April 1st.

Sorry about the truck right behind him, its pretty random but I tried to frame it as best as I could. The bummer about skating weekdays lots of workers around.

I don’t think Gamblor is trying to be a dick. He has won a photo comp on here before and it sounds more like constructive criticism to me. Take it for what it’s worth and ultimately it’s your picture, do what you think is best.

I always appreciate criticism, just not like that..

there you go Corey wink  I retracted my dick critique.

Since this isn’t the critique thread, it’s fine if you don’t want anyone talking smack about your shot. (not that I was talking smack).

You do come across as a dick occasionally, but this is the internet and you can’t really express tone very well over it, I’m terrible at it for sure. I know for a fact you aren’t being a dick about it on purpose but I can see both sides…maybe just try and be more polite or something. Whatever is best.

yeah I’m the same walker, I might of took it the wrong way. But I do appreciate the criticism, harsh or polite.

  I retracted my dick critique.

I was being sarcastic here. I don’t think I was being a dick in the slightest. There was no name calling or saying ‘you suck’. I said you had some wasted space in your photo - as if this is something that would hurt your feelings!?! You complained about the truck so I told you how to isolate the skater. Sometimes an honest critique stings but whatever, maybe if I point out some weaknesses in your photo then it might hurt your chances in the contest…so I won’t be making anymore critiques here.

On the other hand, if you want to put some stuff up in the critique thread…. cool smirk

<strike>ps. I actually the photo is better with the truck there since it gives the skater a blue background, rather than the bright playing field.</strike>
oops, that’s a crit.

aha no, it was honest and definitely true. cropping the photo down may have worked better for you, but not for me.
I would think it would be boring if it was so cropped onto the skater.
Go ahead and critique but, thats a part of taking photos right, trying to make it better. But just do it in a more chill friendly vibe you know haha
