I agree, above the tree line the tarp would not be that beneficial and most likely end up bein a UFO, but at a place like Diggings I reckon that it would be well worth it!!!!!
The tarp will act as a secondary fly and take some pressure off the tents poles and ropes!!!!!
Not disagreeing Mizu. My point is more if a tent is set up correctly then the tarp shouldn’t be needed..well for most tents (awesome to have though and especially cool for providing a place to sit n drink/play cards if raining). Also as someone who hammock camps and sleeps under tarps when hiking, if someone can’t pitch a tent with the instructions, they’ve got bucklies of getting a tarp set up well in crap weather

I think coops might be tellin ya somethin, Dan?????

And you of all people know that I can take a good argument on the chin!!!!!
Lol. No no. Not at all. Though I think the gals in oz’s pics may have struggled with a tarp that day. I know I’ve have many a tent n tarp argument that’s why I always play with mine in the yard. My current 4 season tent may as well have instructions in another language as they were useless. Just needs practice…but I got there lol
edit here’s the beast in question. Pain in the posterior the first time you pitch it

Well I hope that new fan dangled swag of yours fits into ya DaKine Heli Pro Backpack then?????
Lol you nearly made me pee my pants. I’ve got to say I still lament over not getting the dakine. I really liked it and the BCA is a touch too big. If only Id listened to you amongst all that riff raff
A tarp can replace a tent but not the other way around, and they have so many other benefits/uses.
I always have a small tarp folded up in my car someplace. At home there a dozen.
Dan, you need to watch some BearGrills.

Alison and i could not believe what had happened to them when we got there.
But as you, do we all made the most of it and the boys delt with a bad situation pretty well.
At the end of the night Dan and I powered on with a few beers and Ryan almost fell aspleep in lui’s lap
The tents are now in my garbage bin lol
Great TR
I reckon swag would better off than the sleeping bags…. next time
Yep swag works great even in the alpine. But not if sleeping above tree line.
