Hey, we have a page in our site that has a list of basic living costs might help you out.
http://www.rideonwhistler.com/Whistler_Season_Guide/Living_Costs/
Have to update the bus fare section actually.. $2.50 now
Partying is definitely a BIG cost for a lot of season workers. Whistler is what you make of it. You can live here on a budget but if you want to smash Jagar bombs, lunch at GLC and have 3 perfectly colour co-ordinated sets of riding gear you will burn through cash!!
If you have any particular Qs ask away and ill do my best.
Hey pazza,
Have a read through those threads Deano mentioned as there is a lot of good information in there.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them in this thread.
If you are sensible about your spending and work decent hours, it’s really not hard to survive and have an amazing time in Whistler or anywhere else in Canada.
Cook at home regularly, pick which nights you go out to party, make sure your number one priority is spending quality time snowboarding, and you’ll be more than fine.
Hit us up with any questions!
As deanobruse said, I’m living in Whistler at the moment and have done 3 winters so far so I’d call myself well adjusted to the minimum wage aspect whilst still getting the most out of everything.
Feel free to shoot me a PM if you still have any questions after reading through the threads posted above.
As for saving any cash here, honestly in my opinion it won’t happen in your first season unless you become a hermit and don’t go out at all. Avoiding the party scene here in your first season is a hard thing to do as you’ll constantly be meeting people who’ll want to go out for drinks etc. Just know your limits financially and don’t just go out for the sake of it all the time. Riding every day is a great way to save cash - just take some snacks up with you in your pockets and you’ll save a lot of cash this way as compared to paying for overpriced stuff on the hill.
95% going to be in the same boat as you pazza (first season in Whistler) so if i find anything worthwhile i will pass it on.
I have been reading through those threads i mentioned, plus talking to mates who are currently in Whistler.
