Rip Curl Nate Jacket
Hi guys…
I picked one of the above up yesterday for $180, seems like its got all the bells and whistles! Its my first j, and im pretty stocked and for a short guy like myself it fits really well - had problems finding one that did!
Just wondering if anyone has any remarks in rrgards to rip curl snow products?

Rip Curl while bein on my hate list as a brand, still make good quality gear, and have been makin outerwear for quite a while now!!!!!
The only problem that I see is with it bein 5000/5000 (Not a brand specific issue), as if it’s for the Aussie conditions ya might find it wont be so great if ya ride too long in the rain!!!!! A common thing that occurs in the land down under!!!!!

My comment would be that Rip Curl, while being involved in the snow industry for a while now, are still a surf company looking to cash in while the going’s good. Wherever possible, try to support genuine snowboarding companies who aren’t just in it for the money - like Aussie company, 3CS.
I know it ain’t the feedback you wanna hear but Dark had a rip curl jacket and after one weekend wearing it the seem tore away from the jacket up the top at the front.
A call to rip curl and they said he could swap it for another jacket from their range. That’s cool, but he didn’t like their other ones. Reluctantly they offered to fix it and did the worst job ever. We ended up leaving it in our hotel cupboard in las Vegas haha
I know its not an Aussie company but I’ve bought my outer wear from Homeschool Snowboarding this year and it looks to be absolutely sensational!! The breathability rating is off the chart and waterproof too. They are located in the US northwest in the Mt Hood area I think and are only a small company developed by snowboarders.
Worth checking out, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the major brands start taking this highly breathable/durable strategy in coming seasons while maintaining the waterproof levels too.
Anyone else had experience with them?

Its just great to see a company come along who’s capable of thinking outside the box when it comes to bettering snowboarding clothing.
its 10000/10000 not 5k… also.. i didnt really want to go with the rip curl for snowboarding for similar reasons posted above “surf brand cashing in on snow wear” but being short i found it very hard to find suitable outwear made by snow brands… which is unfortunate in such a global sport

to save me the time of going through their website, what outside-the-box thinking have they done?
Well understand that I havn’t field tested Homeschool Snowboarding outerwear in the snow first hand but I’ve worn it up here in North Queensland so I can vouch for its breathability.
They’ve patented this tech called Cocona which is a natural fibre integrated into the clothing derived from coconut shells.
They claim that it vastly increases the breathability of the clothing without sacrificing the waterproof quality of it. So jacket/pants have 25k breathability and 10mm waterproof. Personally I far prefer breathability over waterproofness cause I sweat a fair bit.
The other thing I’m stoked about them is they’re by far the most comfortable snowboard clothes I’ve worn ... they just seem to give in all the right places. Anyway, I’ll be happy to get back to you once I’ve given them a workout.
