How to determine your factory base bevel angle?

Avatar

Hi all,
Firstly ... love the forum and all the great info given out.

I’m wondering if there is an easy way for new snowboard owners to look up the factory specs on their base/side bevel angles?

I have a Burton Custom Flying V 2012 and have been trying to research this info without any luck so far. I’ve even fired off an email to Burton but havn’t received a reply yet.

Is there somewhere that board owners can look this info up or is it a case of everyone who wants to know contacting the manufacturers?

Thanks heaps for any info!!

Hey mate, Burton Customs are factory tuned to one degree of base bevel.

Ok thanks heaps chucky. Appreciate your reply.

Strange that it seems to be a difficult thing to research as you’d expect that it would be the sort of info commonly listed with the other specifications of sales sites etc.

It was listed in any info when I bought my board (gnu) but a little google surfing found it pretty quickly. Or ask around (like youve done!) good luck hope you find out shaka

Hahaha ... No, I was just asking so I had the knowledge and could then better maintain the edges.

I bought the board second hand and it needs a little tlc to get the edges all smick. It has some rust and burrs so I just wanted to know what I was likely to be working with as far as the bevel goes cause I don’t really want to change the edge angles yet ... at least until I’ve tried it out. I’ll smick up the edges, give it a bit of a de-tune around the tip/tail/contact points and wax it up ready to go!

I don’t know why, but I couldn’t find the info by googling it .... possible brain fail on my search parameters but you’d think the edge bevel info would be easy to find. It seems to me to be valuable info to have on your board even so you can maintain your edges more accurately.

Thanks heaps for the welcome btw and for the responses. Getting excited about winter!!

Cool beans!!!!!

Just remember though, the base edge angle shouldn’t be maintained anywhere near as much as the side edge!!!!! A diamond file or gummy stone is all that’s really needed to keep that base edge clean and tidy!!!!!

Winter is wonderful time of the year hey!!!!!  dance

pocket stone removes burrs and if you have a guide file to sharpens your edges and dont know degree then start at 0 and work your way up after marking the edge with a permenant texta till you are on the right number
