Cat Skiing around Queenstown

Hi

I’m all booked for 10 days in Queenstown and have plans to go Heli skiing, but have been told that Cat Skiing is also worth a look. Does anyone have any feed back on Cat Skiing around Queenstown and which companys they have had experience with? Any info is much appreciated . Also if anyone has suggestions on who to use for heli that would be great too..

Cat boarding is usually significantly cheaper than heli. From what I’ve seen around it’s approximately half the price. Sorry I can’t answer the original question, but hopefully Enn Zed pops in here soon - this is his area of expertise.

I’ve done a day catskiing in NZ (Haven’t ever done Heli) and I farken loved it. I just posted a full review with pics in Mountains & Travel section - have a read and get stoked! (It’s up the top in stickies, I’ll leave it there for a while for visibility)

I know there are a few operations around but not many. There are a couple that have come and gone so it’s not a big industry in NZ. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any other cat operations other than Alpure (www.alpurepeaks.co.nz), I think there might be one other.

Combo of Heli and snowmobile, so you heli to their base and from there can sled out to a few locations. Kinda cool and probably worth a look if you didn’t want to drive up north to Alpure. Like most NZ operations, they’re all pretty relaxed and seem like the kind of guys that would cater the day to what you want. Fire them an email and see what the deal is.
