Well today just got shit.

Just been made redundant, work has been quiet as f*ck for a solid 2 months so not that unexpected (well i knew some cutbacks would be needed, didnt think it would be me)

Funny thing is we have had 2 project managers quit, one coordinator go on maternity leave and another is about to leave to have a baby (contractor so no maternity leave) so when she goes, they will be screwed. Wont be enough people left to run the clients we currently have…

Ahwell not my problem!

Bummer downer

What industry are you in? hopefully there are some decent job prospects available to you, if not an oportunity for a fresh start!

Devo for you Deano. Sorry to hear that mate.

How will you go picking up a new gig? What do you do?

Currently (well was currently lol) in Project Management in the retail shopfitting industry. But i also have my carpentry and builders licence so i should be good to find something soon…i hope haha

Avatar

Ahh ok yeah I can imagine retail shopfitting wouldn’t be holding up well in the current economic climate

At least you have some trades to fall back on!

Silver lining mate if you get a decent payout there’s lots of snowboarding to be done on the quiet days in between interviews!

There has been an increasing number of thefts whilst on test drives, the owner starts out the test and when they go to swap the thief just takes off before they can get in the car, heavy!

Yea, you already have a season pass, you could take this as an opportunity to apply at hotels etc at falls or hotham and move up there for a season raspberry

Avatar

Gutted for you Deano!

Good luck finding something else and hoping they look after you with a payout!

Think redundancy goes like this: 4-16 weeks depending on how long you are there. So you should get at least a month’s pay to keep you going for a while + any annual leave you had.

Avatar

Sorry to hear deano… but everything happens for a reason, so hopefully you get some better real soon grin

Avatar

That sucks mate! I’d definately look at jobs at Falls mate.

Redundancy entitlements are 1 months notice (which you may or may not have to work during) plus week per year of service. (can’t remember the maximum amount of weeks they stop at either 12 or 16). Plus any leave owning.

The company can then pay anything they want on top of that.

Hoping they are generous Deano!
