Bit overdue but figured I’d put in a final post for the season.

Blackcomb mountain closed on the 28th of May and I managed to make it up for the last day - visibility was rubbish and next to nothing was groomed but it was still great to make it up for one last shred with Marc and Chantelle. Managed to have a nice stack on the last run catching my nose or something in the slush which left me slamming my back and head that resulted in me feeling a little rattled and with a bit of whiplash but nothing too serious. Was a little concerned that there may have been a mild concussion but was all good. Helmet definitely saved me thats for sure.

All in all it was a great season, whilst the snowfall wasn’t as big as last season there was still plenty of amazing days out there and I ticked off a few things which I’d been meaning to hit such as DOA and bodybag both of which were a 45min hike up from the top of the Showcase T-Bar.

As far as my progression I couldn’t be happier with the way this season panned out, my switch riding has improved significantly, I’ve got all 4 180’s dialled off side hits and on flats and got some good confidence back with jumps going from smalls to being comfortable on the Large ‘bobcat’ line in the Whistler park which is something I’m really happy about. My freeriding took another step this season over last season, I was happy with the progression I made last season with my freeriding but it definitely took another step this season with more exploring off Peak chair and other areas, definitely far more comfortable with throwing myself off things than I was previously and taking some much tighter lines through the trees.

All in all to escape a season with only a little bit of whiplash and to be riding without tape and my knee brace on my bad knee it’s quite safe to say I’m absolutely ecstatic to be ending a season in good physical health and a mentally strong mindset with my newfound abilities.

Thanks to everyone who I rode with this season for making it another amazing one as it wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good without you all. I can’t wait to do it all again next winter - the anticipation to get out there and keep on searching for new lines and enjoying the great ones that I’ve already got is what will keep me going through the off season.

I’ve posted a few photos below which basically sum up some of the highlights of the season for me.

Cheers,
Finney.

Yeah staying here through summer, flying back to Aus at the end of August for a break then back here as soon as the next visa is all approved.

Just shot down to Seattle for the weekend which was great, visited the markets and the EMP museum which had a Nirvana and Hendrix exhibition on.

Haven’t done it yet, wasn’t sure I’d be in with a shot to be honest.
