i’m more than happy to help out the aussie industry. I just couldn’t go past the deal i got. I really liked the look of the board i purchased online.

I guess, the crap thing is i live in Brisbane and we have one super average shop that sells average Burton stuff that are rrp….

I really like the look of the flying v i think it will suit me quite well. I got a snowbaord package offered to me for a store in SA, it was a

custom (normal) 2011 158 for $450
custom medium 2011 bindings for $210
burton bag for $80

i guess i can bite the bullet and spend that kinda money to get older stuff. Where should we discuss options?

Have you checked out Snowbiz? They are based in Brisbane. http://www.snowbiz.com.au/

We can discuss your options here. smile

STM has a 2012 Burton Custom Flying V 158. Retails at $699. They will do 20% off for Boardworld members. Comes down to $560 (with free shipping to you). Let me know if you’re interested and I will put you in touch with them.

I can’t really afford that much, hell I can’t really affordwhat I tried to buy. If they can do it for 450 or close to I’ll buy it. Obviously I need bindings and stuff but I don’t think they would do 200 for new bindings. If not I guess I’ll have to go with the guys in sa as I already have a gift card with them. Thanks heaps for the support it’s been a very stressful time… It’s supposed to be fun…

It’s only the 2011 Custom 158 (full camber) available at that price. It’s a great board though.

Would the flying v be better though? Cause I had that board on laybay but canceled it for the other board. How cheap do you think they will go on the board. if I don’t get the 2012 I might go back to the other guys. Thanks for helping btw.

Does snowbiz offer the same discount for boardworld members?

No worries mate. I’m more than happy to help.

Flying V isn’t “better” - it performs differently to full camber. They are both great boards. The Flying V profile is easier/quicker to turn, easier to press, more forgiving, and floats better in powder. The full camber version is more stable at speeds, carves better, and has more pop and energy. It just comes down to personal preference. I wrote an article on the different camber profiles. You can read it here: https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/4119/

I’m sure Snowbiz will look after you if you tell them you are a Boardworld member. Speak to Dave if you can. Most stores usually look after our members. It’s up to them though. Keep in mind, most stores offer free shipping on purchases.

Thankss, it’s cool I live in brisbane, if you think I’ll get a better deal with your guys I’ll go with them.

It’s worth looking into all your options. I think the Custom 158 at 40% off would serve you very well. Feel free to send me a PM and I’ll put you in touch with the shop.

Hey Hardsnow,

for the custom, both the cambered version and the flying v are good. I def would NOT buy a snowboard off amazon.
Also, just to let you know how things are, usually the wholesale price on a snowboard is 60%. So, if a shop is selling it at 40% they are making no profit on it = crazy deal for you. 20% off a 2012 is a good deal too, and one that should be grabbed unless you like to gamble that it will be still around at the end of the season.

Yeah i was quite surprised to, shipping was only $50 thats why i jumped on it. But they said there was a stock error and it was wide… sad.

My guess is that they realised that $50 wasn’t even close to what it would actually cost them to ship, and they made up the “stock error” story to get out of it.

thanks so much for everyone’s help. In the end the shop in america called me and changed the order and apologize for the huge screw up. they worked it out with me and have sent a “159 LIB TECH 2012 Attack banana” to me instead with burton malavita bindings for the same price. all up i spent $650 for:

Board
Bindings
Danike bag
danike tool kit thing
and wax.
with delivery

I hope this board suits me. I will not be buying a board online ever again though. It has been way to hard and it will probably bite me in the ass but hopefully not.

Thanks everyone so much for your help and i’m sorry i didn’t take your advice. I explained everything to my local board shop and they were extremely nice about it and i was about to buy a board off them until i got the phone call in america.

hope you got all that stuff at 30% off, which is what everything is at now (since the 2012 season is over in the northern hemisphere)

And they really only charged you $50 shipping - for all that???

A good mate just bought board/bindings/jacket and pants from a well known online USA retailer and his shipping was 3 times that…

Im sceptical of $50 shipping for all these items

well amazon calculated shipping. I know everywhere was saying that it’s 170 to ship. i don’t know if they made and error or not. also yes i got it for 30% off. i got it from Docs Ski Haus,

nice people. But lets just hope the stuff arrives.

Amazon are great for shipping, I don’t know how they do it - maybe they absorb some of the costs, or have a special deal with some company’s due to using them so much, but I only pay about $20 to ship here for most of the things I get sent - Other websites usually charge $80 - $100 for a board with other gear.

I’ll put up the invoice for my board when i get all the stuff and it’s all good.

I just checked tracking and it’s on the way :D.
