about to get one of these.

50 bucks to fix an accessory at the customers expense.  rage
No doubt fans of them will happily pay.

not happily. the original housing should work under water!

freddy experimented a bit with home made add-ons but none of them worked that well :-(

That’s probably better than the branded one + it has a side sight.

Cool, Sportscamera has come good looking equipment they are making themselves. Including Poles.

yep, they’ve had lots of cool accessories for quite a while.

I agree with Spaz here
It should work under water and now they are selling a special lens for under water..what?
I guess it is worth it if you do a lot of real diving but then I don’t know what a professional underwater camera costs.

yeah but would a flat lens look as good for out of the water footage? I don’t think so?

When most cameras in this category don’t even come with a waterproof housing in the first place, I don’t think that it is major problem ?????

you can get something like this for underwater stuff.

http://www.sportscamera.com.au/oculus-r5-flat-lens-for-gopro-hero-hd-new-side-sights-p-499.html

I’ve heard that some of the first underwater lens covers lost a bit of the 170? FOV, whereas the GoPro one has addressed this!!!!!

The regular housing worked fine when we went diving. Maybe the new one would give a better image but it’s not something I need right now. Those images do look pretty crisp though. It’s cool they’re bringing out new products to enhance filming quality in certain situations.

really? that would be a first. Its a pretty well documented issue. the way the housing is designed has a flaw in when filming underwater….it makes the footage slightly blurry. All my footage that is shot underwater of fish etc looks terrible.

Those flat diving lens work fin out of the water as well. They really should just provide the original housing with a flat lens.

The underwater bits in this are with the standard case!!!!! Watchin it in HD gets rid of some of the pixelation too!!!!!

It’s not the greatest in regards to clarity, but for the price of the camera I reckon it’s not bad??????

Maybe I didn’t look at my footage close enough. I’m not saying it was amazing footage but it seemed to do the job OK. If I was doing lots of filming underwater I’m sure I’d buy the upgrade case.
