Burton Hero (or other) 155W with size 12 Boots

Avatar

Hey BW’ers my young cuz is looking for a new deck to get his size 12 hoofs onto. He has been having problems riding his 153 Gnu (possibly riders choice) cant really remember what it is but he is jack of it due to his overhang and falling over a lot because of heel catching. we tried adjusting his stance a bit last season, but as i dont get the chance to ride with him much he still had problems. He is around 190ish cm, 90kg

I said this season we would look at some new boards, we got talking about the burton Hero 155w or 155 custom flying v wide, as he is thinking a bit longer for some O/S trips. i ride the easyliving 155 flying v and would ideally like to see a board with a similar fun factor to this for him but in a wide config.

any suggestions for decks to fit would be great from any brands like burton, yes, capita etc anything really.

cheers guys

Hey Mate,

For reference im pretty much spot on exactly those specs, 190cm, 90kg, size 12 boots, stance angles -15/+15

I find for me a board with 255mm waist width is perfect.

Boards i HIGHLY rec. are Anything Capita particulary the 155cm Horrorscope (bit more fun and loose, better if hes begginer) or 156/158 Indoor Survival (still really fun and nimble but with more oomph for haulin ass down any run) they make very versatile boards and they arent too narrow either.

These are boards i ride/used to ride so i know they fit the bill smile

Regular size 12 boots, or with ‘shrinkage’?

Firstly I would like to say… Poor kid!
I have size 13s so I know his pain. Each brand has about 2 good wide boards (if you’re lucky).

So he is almost the same height and weight as me. SO I can tell you exactly what he need.
A 153 is way too short for him period. It needs to be way longer. I ride 158 or 159 and that is pretty short for me.
He should be looking and 156 at the absolute smallest.

If he likes rockers (I’m going to sound like a broken record here) Try Arbor! Their rocker boards have griptech edges which means the board widens out under foot making the rocker less washy. But the great part is you can ride a mid wide board with a size 12 or 13!

Any other board HAS to be a wide. Or it simply won’t be wide enough and he will get toe and heel drag… which sucks… I know.

Happy hunting, give my props to the grom with the big hooves wink  I’ve got his back

I’m an 11 (with shrinkage) and my Burton Vapor has a 248mm waist.

What’s the narrowest board width you can ride with size 13 boots, Andy?
