OK, so I went and found the eBay ad, and you’ve definitely got reason to make a claim.
Under “Condition:”, it says “New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item” - yet they would have had to have opened the box to remove the second elevator plate.
Don’t sweat on it Chucky. I will send a claim through. I can see the funny side though. Even funnier is that this is the first thing that I have bought off eBay and have been sucked in first crack.

Had another look on eBay, the ad actually says, “new in box 1 plate and fixings” under the heading “Burton Elevator Plates”. So whilst it looks like a set, the ad does actually say 1 plate. So my bad I guess.

Nah mate, not your bad, THEIR bad.
Sure, in one place it does say “1 plate”, but right above it in MUCH bigger/bolder type it says “plates” - so you had no idea which was wrong and which was right? As it says “plates” twice and only “1 plate” once, assuming that the “1 plate” comment was a typo is perfectly understandable - especially considering these are ALWAYS supposed to be sold in pairs.
If the seller is dodgy, they’ll argue the point - but if they’re cool, they’ll refund. If they’re dodgy, they deserve to cop it.
But box was opened so it shouldn’t have been listed as “new”.

Yep that too! We were supposed to be getting pizza delivered but have since found out that isn’t happening. Guess I’m going hungry till I get home
