Nice Hilux mate,

No need to paint the panels chrome, there is bucket loads of off the shelf aftermarket chrome gear for them. Ebay and minitruckin forums are your friends here. Pretty cheap to. Chrome paint is really hard to get right unless its getting chrome dipped or polished which is not cheap at all.

Cheers
Josh

first car was a ‘81 Mazda 626.  Not a terrible car, but badly out of date.  It hated being left in the snow for days at a time and I can remember backfiring my way down the alpine roads on a few occasions.

Current car is 06 Subie Forrester XS.  The XS has self-levelling suspension which seems like a good idea but is apparently pretty notorious for failing, which mine did.  I replaced that with standard shocks and springs and all is right again.  The most recent upgrade was to change away from the standard widely-disliked Yokohama G900 tyres to Yokohama HT/S - wow what an awesome tyre that is.  Car is otherwise good, very reliable, but a bit small for the 4 of us on holiday trips, and a bit thirsty around town for its size.

That’s spray on chrome paint - not chromoly (Chrome Molybdenum) which is a steel alloy. The appearance may be similar but longevity, durability and strength does not equal it. Chemically they are galaxies apart. Paint is plastic, chrome is steel.
Unless that’s spray on steel?

Not that it doesn’t have an appeal.
