GST gave the government more money to waste .......

your grandkids will be paying back the bill on the borrowing we are doing now :(

GST was brought in to stop tax cheats!!!!!

BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

like that worked

i can get GST free prices from every trady, car mechanic et al etc

Cash is still King!!!!

No you can’t!!!!!

They still have to buy their products that have GST included!!!!! In order to claim that GST back, they have to charge their customers GST in the first place!!!!!

That’s why it no longer makes that much of a difference whether or not people take cash/credit/whatever!!!!!

Australia actually isn’t in very much dept.

I don’t think there is any problem with the next generation paying back some debt as long as they get something out of it…i.e good train systems, roads and infrastructure. whether they will actually get any of that is another thing.

crackers i am sorry if i say this and offend you in any way but you are very blind it has nothing to do with debt, if your kids cant find a job or they have a job and just have enough to pay for they kids school and living etc how are you going to live like that, day to day pay to pay ?? while they will be adding more taxes and more other bs or better say how will you live at all if they take your job away from you .

Would you buy a Great Wall ute cause it’s 10 grand cheaper than it’s Japanese competitor?????

That brings up another interesting point.

Not all that many years ago people would do anything to avoid buying Japanese made products. They were considered cheap and inferior. Things have certainly changed though with Japanese cars considered as solid as a rock and Japanese electronics considered the premium choice.

Korea is another more recent example of this, Hyundai and Kia are winning awards all over the place now.

It shows with the immense growth China has/is experiencing it’s not unfathomable that they could soon be producing some quality goods!

dave yeah chine has great experience but its also because foreigners have brought a lot of manufacturing business and they learn from it.

Japan and Korea actually made quality products right from the start!!!!! they just used other countries technology and made it better!!!!!

They also paid their workforce differently!!!!! ie Both Korea (Sth) and Japan have a high standard of living!!!!!

China on the other hand still produce on volume, don’t pay their workforce very well, and therefore don’t end up keeping experience within their prospective operations!!!!! This is their downfall, and until they change that practice then things wont change that much in terms of quality!!!!!

* This does not apply to all Chinese facilities, for example Apple contracted factories do have a higher paid workforce, and therefore have a more loyal and experienced workforce!!!!!

nah mates its fine, your saying your opinion and me mine. you think im blind and i think you are buying into the ‘daily telegraph’ type scare tactics that all is not well when in reality things arent that bad. no doubt we are both wrong anyway.

Having said that…I don’t really know what you mean here anyway! what exactly doesn’t have to do with debt?

My kids will be paying some sort of tax no matter what, whether the country is in debt or not wont make any difference.  So im arguing that saying that my grandkids will be paying debt off for years is irrelevant. Whats more relevant is how the tax is spent and used and what the tax rate is.

Besides, although there have been things like GST and prices for petrol etc are going up, there have also been many tax reductions, I believe the tax free threshold has gone up to 18000 from 6000. that is a huge difference. Also Wholesales Tax was abolished etc

Don’t get me wrong….Ideally I’d like lower taxes but I’d also like good hospitals and trains etc
I think the amount of tax we have now is about right but that it needs to be spent in a better way and more efficiently.

Thats not comparing apples for apples is it.
We are talking about a sub $100 product (hoodies) and you mention a 20 or so thousand dollar ute.

Same story, just a different ratio!!!!!

I was usin it as an example that “cheaper” doesn’t always mean that it will be a winner!!!!!

I have seen stacks of car manufactures, along with clothin labels that have been cheap, and they have folded!!!!! And some of these have done so in a short period of time!!!!!

Just take some snowboard labels for example!!!!!

Burton/Lib Tech V’s Aldi Boards!!!!!

But that is the thing I thing govern ant takes so much money from us but yet they can’t even get the trains right.

And i am not saying that we r not in good position however my question is for how long ?
Don’t really read daily that much for exact that reason but I guess what I was trying to say is that debt will be here
well after me an you and our kids but if they don’t have job or enough money to support ur self and family we will
Be screwd and government is not helping much by adding more taxes on top, if they going to do that at least increase
Workers pays.

But who know like u said we most likely are both wrong.

My apologies if I have offended u or anyone else this my openion only

yeh i get where you were coming from but i dont think that comparison is relevant to Trent’s hoodie dilemma. I have bought literally 20 or so chinese knockoff jumpers, jackets etc. from egay for under $30 and apart from the cuts (asian sizing so need to go a size bigger) they were fine. The material was as good as any other hoodie (actually a shitload better then my Snow Park hoodie) and they lasted ages.

I would buy an aldi board in a heartbeat!*

*To use for our rail we have set up in my mates backyard that has a runin ramp, fake grass and copious amounts of water/detergent on it.

Problem that trent is facing is that he doesn’t want to be a cheap Chinese rip off company, I think that he wants to have a quality top tier snowboard brand!!!!! (correct me if I am wrong trent)

So it’s just my opinion that he wants to take it seriously, and not go the way of the flash in a pan labels do so often!!!!!!

(This was also my reasonin behind him not makin his staple designs based on others art/shock value prints!!!!!)

Your right mizu, thats why ive gone down this path so far with trying to keep things made “in-country-house” but some points that have been brought up in this thread have made me actaully wonder if its worth doing so.
That being said the whole purpose of this thread was to find out if that was the case so therefore i guess its been successful, and i hope that being armed with this sort of information and your opnions on my stuff, it will help me not to be one of these flash in the pan labels. I love this sport and want to be part of it for aslong as i can, hopefully buse is a way for me to do so.

I totally agree - i weigh up each purchase for different reasons.

Hoodie… would never pay over $100, same as i would pay over $150 for jeans….

If neither of these were available I would never own/wear them.

Everyone is the same - it is like when we talk about Travel etc and everyone has their different ideas on how to spend money.

Like the Shred - Sundeck vs The Station…. Its about what people are willing to pay. Some people staying at the Station may be the difference to whether they come or not…
