P is for Powder Tree Runs

Avatar

Some memorable days in this vid: starts off with a day where the snow was so sticky it stuck to our goggles. Riding trees def had some sketchy moments. You see me hit a tree at one point early on. Some other stuff too but it’s late and I’ll just post tomorrow. Enjoy!

Watched the first half (at work so will watch the rest this arvo) looks epic man!

I have hit a tree previously at Blue Cow, that shit hurts! Copped a solid trunk to my ribcage…

Loading on Vimeo so I can watch in HD. Now has HD option!

Did it take long to upload Gamblor?

I hit a tree once, small one about the size of my forearm at Smiggins. Shit sure does hurt! I was temporarily paralysed for 20min in a sinkhole and spent 2 days in bed after signing a waiver with skipatrol to have no medical attention. Hit the tree along my back muscle next to my spine.

didn’t take too long to upload Spaz, it’s only 211mb if I remember correctly.
Yeah, I think that’s a problem with the pov cam, or just filming yourself in general: just showing a powder tree run is fine once, maybe twice, but then it gets boring. I have a few spots lined up for next winter, and then just upping the difficulty (grabs and spins).

Cords, yes, that’s my daughter at the end. Not bad for 3 years old, eh? She can do turns but at that point in the season she just wanted to gun it. Then she found little jumps and then she started turning to line them up, then we had a powder day together and she was turning to get to the powder patches under the lifts. Best moment with her of the season: when we were on the lift and some skier went through a powder patch under the lift, she yelled, ‘hey, get out of my powder!’  LOL

that footage is from March and the start of April. We had dumps til the end and kind of missed out on the spring corn cycle as it melted all of a sudden-like. It’s cut my peak bagging season quite short.

In the vid there’s 2 shots of me under the lift when I sprayed the guys on the lift. I was giggling quite hard after that thinking I was so naughty lol

Spaz, when I fall into the treewell type thing, I was on the Nug, so less surface area for resistance. It was a bit of a surprise to go right through the snow instead of slashing it lol

P is for Phar out that was sick!

Was it hard to get out to those runs or did you hit most of them nice and early. Loved your speed through most of those tree ones as well, heaps better that way as long as the trees are nice to you…

Loved it Gamblor

I let go of the board to turn off the gopro LOL the board didn’t go far though, as it was pretty flat there.

Most of those lines people either don’t know or I hit them first. It’s a matter of reading the conditions and what other people are doing. That big line after the small avy was a hike where I caught up to and passed a pair of skiers. Then when I got to the top I strapped in and waited for my friend. but then one of the skiers tried to drop in in before me by not hiking to the top and trying to get in on the diagonal. So I said see ya to my buddy and managed to smoke past the skier to get the run. A nice moment wink
