Don’t normally post or even look in this thread because it makes me far too jealous!
Just wondering though if anyone knows of anybody who has done a season and worked in a hospital as a nurse? I have a friend who is thinking of trying to do the season 12/13 in whistler and she is a qualified nurse. I think she’d be more than happy to just get a “normal” season job but thought I’d throw it out there in case anyone knew anyone who had managed to do this - or knew anything about it?
cheers.
As far as a i know conditions on the visa exclude nursing and child care.
Did any of you Whistler peeps see Rube Goldberg’s floaty back one at the Telus comp? Pure poetry.
that was super sick. That is what snowboarding should look like (in my very humble opinion). I’d love to see some kind of comp where spins were banned beyond a 720 rotation.
Rider’s Blog: Day 74
Stoked that I was able to catch up with Aidy (from here) on the mountain today. Aidy has been teaching at Sun Peaks and I haven’t seen him in over three years. It was really nice to go for a few runs with Aidy and Graham (my housemates from the 05/06 season). I was really enjoying the setup today. Back is still bothering me so just carving and playing around. I’m hoping I’ll be able to have a few more days in the park before I leave but I’ll have to see how my back is. Cruised several runs to Red, Green, and the village.
Observations about the Greats: lots of pop, carves very well, very buttery in the nose and tail.
Observations about the Now bindings: the hinge does not lose responsiveness from edge to edge - I’d even argue it gives more response as the energy is released after you release an edge. First impressions have been very god.

Just when I thought I wouldn’t be heading up Peak again this season… 20cm of snow overnight. Shredded some really fun Peak laps with Marc and Chantelle. I was pretty hungover this morning after partying at Tommy Africa’s last night but there’s no better cure than 20cm of fresh snow and pizza and Nachos for lunch.
We hit up Doom and Gloom first run, then Bagel Bowl, then VD Trees, and finished it off with a Bonsai lap. Marc got some good photos which I’m sure he will share soon.
I’m really loving the YES Greats. That thing has so much pop and rode super well in the pow. The bindings have also been really good.
It’s Marc’s birthday tomorrow. Sushi Village yeeeeeeew!
Monster Shot, Monster Shot!!!!!
i feel like i am living in the third person right now.
That’s just what Blake said!!!!!
I remember this exact day April 20th last season, it also got 20cm pow day
I’ll see what I can do, Rico. Good to hear you got home safe, Blake.

Had a fun afternoon riding around with Marc and Shane. It’s Marc’s birthday today by the way. Cruised a couple of park laps and did a village lap. Had a jug of beer at GLC and went back up with Marc. Marc and I had a really fun game of SHRED. Basically the same as HORSE or SKATE. We both ended up with one letter y the end of the run. Marc got me with a flying squirrel grab off a side hit (man, that grab is hard!) and I got him back with a backside 360. Whistler closes tomorrow which is sad times. I only have 3 days left of riding boooooo!
