Looking for a new board, suggestions pls :)

I have a feeling that lib tec boards are going to be less prominent this year because alot of stores have stopped stocking them for fear of not being able to move them with their attached price tags.

(still love my banana)

More pop? Go the Custom X, and keep your Cartels. There’s a few X’s going pretty cheap if you look.

I agree with rider, with it bein the opposite of boards ya were interested in such as the banana etc, but it will have great pop as AJ says, and it will also be very capable in bombin the steps and groomers, and much more so than the hybrids/rockers!!!!!

It will be harder to spin though, but if ya get one on the shorter side of things this will alleviate that issue somewhat!!!!!

Havin said that, you did however mention that ya came from the Ride Antic as it was too stiff for ya likin????? Was this a rockered version?????

Based on what you were saying in your first post, the Custom X is not what you want. You wanted something with more flex so you could play around more etc. The Custom X is stiff with full camber, even stiffer than the Uninc. It makes no sense to get the Custom X. You might as well keep riding your Uninc.

I would strongly recommend looking at boards with either a softer flex pattern or with some rocker in the profile - or both.

Hey Soul

I myself also had an Uninc, was 156 Gigi Uninc from 2008(i think) with some blue cartels. Really nice board, always loved it as an all mountain ripping board. Lasted me a few years before updating to a Forum Youngblood, i was after a more park board at the time.

If ur after something in the Burton line similar i’d say give the Easy Living or Sherlock or HERO boards a look. All good boards that will b good in the park but also sweet for all mountain riding. They have v-rocker or flying-v camber profile, check out rider’s post on the rocker info if u wanna know more.

I hate to be on the YES bandwagon, but if ur after the closest thing thing to a Uninc with more flex then i wound say look at the Yes Greats series, or a BIG CITY, its got a softer/medium flex with a hybrid cam rock profile. Their designed by the guys who used to run the whole Uninc things at burton before they got dumped from Burton and started up YES. Very similar shapes on the boards, just with some new and updated tech in em, hybrid camber/rockers, carbon flex patterns for a bit more pop.

If your stoked with ur current cartels u can get the adapter pad to work with boards with EST so no need to upgrade the bindings if u need too.

There are so many other brands out there K2, Nitro, DC, Stepchild, Lib Tech n Gnu. Ive found that some of the tech works for me, and others dont. Personally i dont feel the whole libtech magnatraction stuff works for me it actually make me feel like im gonna catch an edge when i ride it. The Gullwing tech also feels like i have camber/rocker in the wrong place for my riding. But i also have many friends, who find these things work for their ways of riding.

i’d say if u could get down the snow try out a few boards at one of the demo days, or even do the rent before u buy, most places down in jindabyne(Rhythm, ESS and First Tracks) normally let u rent/demo the board and then they put the rental cost towards the price of the board.

After ridin both the Burton Hero and the YES Basic in the same week (The 2011 Shred), I would have to say that both are great boards for fun soft flex play!!!!!

However, and I do feel as though I am bashin the YES brand as well, but the Basic was heads above once ya wanted to get some speed up!!!!! Their CamRock profile just works!!!!!

Hey Soul,

Not sure if you’ve considered them at all but K2 has some pretty sweet boards going around at the moment that fit a fairly wide range of needs. Just thinking that if you don’t have a nearby store and looking online then K2 might be a way to go as they are relatively cheap for how good they are.

I’ve got a K2 Raygun http://k2snowboarding.com/product/raygun?category=2011-12 , I think it looks pretty neat and I fell in love with it as soon as I hopped off the lift and did my first run. All season I was boarding down a mountain that was known for its natural kickers and jumps that would form from fallen trees etc. This board gave me plenty of pop when I was hitting the jumps and even when I was just trying ground tricks.

It is all terrain rocker which I know rider26 and co. will be able to tell you more accurately about, but basically I felt completely in control going through 2 foot of powder or when riding through the park (as close to control as my skill set would let me!).

They’re real popular over here in the states and to be honest I love it so much I’m shipping it back to Australia because I don’t want to risk not being able to get one back home.

Just something different for you to think about, hope I haven’t made things any more complicated!

The K2 Raygun has a flat base between the bindings with rocker in the nose and tail!!!!!

A great hybrid profile that many companies are choosin to use, along with many riders givin it the thumbs up as well!!!!!

Same profile as my Parkstar. Raygun is a bloody good board, at a good price. Highly recommend it

So any suggestions on size? smile

like the look of some of burton flying v’s, and theres a few good buys online inc k2’s.

tempted to suss out the on mountain stores and see if i can’t get a better price out of them and take along my un inc… ive got a few days in sydney on the way up too

The Flying V would be a good choice. Size wise I’d stick with between 154-158. - Probably shorter than most will recommend, but unless you’re hitting 100ft + jumps and riding deep power I think you will enjoy a shorter board more.

Cheaper deal on the mountain!!??  That shit cray…

I guess I was hoping for someone who might have a feel for an un inc compared to other boards. I find it hard to get good flat ground pop and feel its a bit stiff. Seems good blasting but I did have a couple moments hitting ice on windswept rises. I think the un inc is cambered medium to stiff? I had a couple runs on a 2010 (I think) skate banana and liked the looseness and flex/pop but definitely noticed it being a touch heavy?

Once again thx

If you can’t get pop out of an uninc then you must be doing something wrong. Stiff board = lots of snap in the tail = pop. Switching to a softer board will give you less pop. It’s simple quantum physics dude
