i thought the ref did a good job. stamping on someone with your cleats should be a red card.

awesome shock win for the dutch.

i agree. but as for the quality of the ref’s over the whole world cup, there have been some extremely piss poor calls.

Imagine if everyone was getting sent off for the same tackles as Cahill was sent off for… there wouldnt’t be any players left!

yeah, no argument there. it was entertaining to watch Brazil disintegrate though. As strong a team as they were, with that attitude I was happy to see them go

I really didn’t expect the Netherlands to come back and win last night. Brazil seemed so frustrated in the second half. When that guy (forget who it was, Alvez?) got sent off he ended the game right there. So stupid to stomp on a player and get sent off, let’s the whole team down. There was still 25 mins to go and they could have come back if they stayed composed.

Wow, just finished watching Uruguay vs Ghana. What an intense finish! To go from a penalty away from the semi finals to getting knocked out a few minutes later, that has to hurt. Suarez sacrificed himself to save the country, he will be a hero back home.

Looking forward to the next games…!

Ahhh crap… Just went to make some subs in my fantasy team. Wanted to change my captain, but my captain was Suarez and it wouldn’t let me. Then I read this in the rules:

Change your captain, providing he wasn’t sent off, with someone whose team is yet to play

haha im going soo bad in the fantasy league :(

Talk about the world cup getting exciting… Germany up 1-0 after 3minutes over Argentina.

Hoping tonight is as exciting as last night

yeah i might be in trouble in the fantasy league. Lost 4 brazilians last night, and I’ve got 4 argentinians playing right now…gulp

Come on Argentina! Keep on giving the ball to Messi!

i can certainly see germany going the whole way. playing so so well tonight

Since the group stages, I have heard that Germany should be the team to take it all.

I just watched the last 30 mins of the Germany game., that was kind of a beating. I know Argentina played well for a while, but GER just got the best of them all.

I think Spain will be favored in the later game today vs Paraguay.

Fantasy league? I just dont know enough to play, not at all.
Keeping up with the tournament has been a lot of fun though.
Sad to see Ghana go out like that, but oh well.

My guess is that it will be NED vs GER for the final(not sure who will win) with ESP and then URU 3rd and 4th.
that is my prediction.

Juarez should be fined, and suspended for the tournament.
The obvious goal should have been awarded to Ghana, and they would have won the contest sending URU home and disgraced.
The penalty or punishment should fit the crime and the action of a deliberate hand ball to stop a goal should never happen.
He says in this article that “it was worth it”
Well honestly. even if I was the best player on a team. I’d take a hand ball and an evection from a few games just to win one for the team. thats a simple sacrifice.
The punishment should be severe and deter any such action again from any other team.

This is a sad occurrence.

very very sad. For the amount these guys get paid, and the fact they call it the ‘beautiful game’.... it has the most pathetic acts of unsportsmanlike behaviour i have ever seen

Agreed.

CORRECTION: the player’s name is Luis Suarez from Uruguay
So, Suarez has been suspended for one game. I think that’s such a simple sacrifice. He doesnt regret his decision at all - I bet he’s seen as a hero, but to me he’s nothing close.
I still think that the goal should have been awarded to Ghana, (AND the penalty kick) ...if the ref even has that authority - which I dont think he does.
Suarez can go on to play in the finals if URU wins the next game. What will stop him from doing the same thing again? NOTHING.
