Rose (or similar) is excellent for low light conditions. In Oakley goggles the equivalent would be something like pink iridium.
It’s worth mentioning that you should really try on at least a few goggles to see what feels comfortable on your face. All goggle brands and styles fit differently and work well with certain face sizes and shapes. Pick out a few goggles that you like and then test which one feels the most comfortable on your face. All the leading brands make excellent goggles and you really can’t go too wrong buying from a reputable brand. Just make sure the frame works well for your face.
That is advice that I have taken heed of for a long time. I have a large head and this makes buying anything designed for wearing on the face difficult. I generally try on a heap of products and put aside those that fit, and then pick the one I like best. I don’t really have the luxury of choosing what I like and then picking the ones that fit best.
Finally tried out some new anon goggles i picked up off sierra in the 50% off sales yesterday with the red solex lenses - worked really well in the bright conditions so would recommend them for anyone on a tighter budget for goggles as they sell for around $150 locally as compared to the I/O’s which I previously suggested which are around $260 here. I grabbed them since they were cheaper than a replacement lense for my I/O’s as the lense I had for bright conditions was wrecked after a big stack last year. Can’t really comment on low vis days with this lense yet. Once I have I’ll post back in here.
Heres a picture as a reference:
Just a quick update as per my previous post - actually found the red solex lense to be surprisingly good with overcast conditions up at perisher/blue cow on the weekend. The weather was all over the place with sun out certain points then an hour later completely overcast and snowing and they did a great job in both conditions so may be something to consider for people on a budget. Although I’m pretty sure in white out conditions I would most likely be swapping to my I/O’s with the rose lenses.
All in all not bad for $50US
I have Oakley Crowbars, love them! fit perfect, very clear lens and nice style
I got Von Zipper Feenom’s last year.
Came with 2 lenses and they never fog up.
Dont listen to any of us here though.
Everyone has a different size/shape head so your best bet is to go in and try a heap on to see what fits best.
If you stick to a big name (Oakley, Von Zipper, Anon, Dragon, Electric, Smith) you cant go wrong.
I just bought a cheap $50 pair or Scott goggles back in 2006 and they have done the job every year perfectly! Not too bad for $50!!
I am looking to upgrade to some Oakley goggle though… I already own about 6 pairs of their sunnies and love them. Too bad I just missed the Oakley sale here in Canberra… *face palm*
Dragon Rogue’s…. can’t beat them. The EG 2.5’s come close though.

URGH!!!
Just wait till you get a pair of proper (non-scott) goggles… You will immediately tell the difference lol.
I have yet to see a pair of goggles value for money than my Oakley O Frames. $50 off ebay and they were fantastic!
Electric EG1 this year.

Ive got the A frames with Pink Iridium lense. I’d rate them. they are good in low light but I also don’t have any probs when its sunny.
Oakley a frames all the way
For low light I have a pair with the high intensity yellow lens - awesome!
ive got Smith goggles. the model is called ‘Fuse’
They came with two lenses. one normal one and one yellow tint for low light conditions to see those small bumps in the snow… they are really good goggles. dont fog up and have adjustable vents. i got them for around $200 maybe 2-3rys ago and are doing just fine! they are great goggles.
and just a point about Red Dragon: my mum got a pair 2yrs ago. Worst 150 or 200 ever spent. they fogged up incredibly all the time, from the very start. i wouldnt recommend them…
