Easter break has been difficult to plan for me.
I’ll prob do the lawns again on Friday, there are a few weeds I still need to get out of the garden so a certain bunny doesn’t get prickles when he’s hiding all the eggs for a multidude of kids that attend my place on Sunday - our egg hunt has become an annual tradition with many friends bringing their kids.
Not that the adults miss out - dad always brings a supply of fish and prawns (but this year it looks like I’ll be doing the cooking since he fractured his spine).
Mum and stepdad fire up the bamaree and fill it with chicken and roast veges while the guests bring the odd plate.
Plenty of wine and a few beers so we can free the kids up to burn up the chocolate rampage. Later that night stepdad encourages the kids to consum more chocolate, it’s one of the few days a year he drinks and it’s his job to deal with the tummy aches since he’s a GP.

I’ll be going to the Easter Show at some stage, may even do that on Friday instead of mowing - just to get it out of the way, while I have a few dollars.

I will be working saturday night, which really sucks. If it means affording an extra showbag I’m sure PP will forgive me.
Will catch afea of the new movies coming out - the pirate one looks good.

Watch some of Bells. Go to the beach. Bike riding, Skating, surfing - all with PP.

Should finish building PP’s billycart then her and my neice (who’s billycart I already built) can paint them.

Easter show was so dreamy when I was a kid. Once every few years we’d make the trek up from Canberra, stay with family and go there….This was back when it was at the old showgrounds - where fox studios is now. I’d study the programme that came with the Telegraph for weeks & knew inside out all the contents of each showbag and how much it was…$10 was the most expensive showbag, back then. Now I’m pretty sure they are up around the $25-$30 mark!

I haven’t been for 4-5 years now since I have been, but I think it is definitely worth checking out once. Its cool to see all the crazy animals and dorkily enough I enjoy those enormous fruit and vege displays and whatnot. Gotta see the champion wood-choppers once and last time I went they had a pretty cool freestyle motocross demo.
If you can find some well behaved kids to take with you between the ages of about 8 and 12, I reckon it would be extra enjoyable to experience it through their enthusiastic eyes!

Me and Mrs Miz were thinkin about goin to the Show!!!!! Been about 4 years since the last time we went!!!!!

I think that cords summed it up well!!!!! The food hall is great, the animals are unreal, and the show/fireworks at the end of the night is always good too!!!!!

I just wish that they hadn’t changed the venue, as the old Moore Park one was better!!!!!

Ohh yeah, there are tons of cheap chocolate/lolly Showbags under the $10 mark!!!!! My advice if ya go, is to hire a locker (opposite the Showbag Hall), then buy ya Showbags and stuff them in the locker along with a hoody for later on at the main arena!!!!! Some bags will sell out by the end of the day, and it also gets pretty hectic in the Showbag Pavillion!!!!!

The Easter Show is the bomb - i go every year - sometimes several times a year.

When we were kids it used to be a HUGE family thing - for that side of the family it was like our Christmas.

Now i am the only one of the ‘younger’ generation who is still a member - my sister and my cousins aren’t members anymore.

Cords little kids are great too! They aren’t as demanding you can control the experience! LOL

Next weekend I am going with my friend and her almost 4yo. The next day I am going with my almost 4yo nephew. Both days will be after 12 so the days isn’t super long for them. Staying for the end the fireworks and all the main ring events. I am a bit partial to the Rodeo, hated it as a kid though!

I do miss the Moore Park event - but there are some great things about the Homebush location. There are some big plans for renovation soon. They keep emailing us the details.

I haven’t been to the Show since it first moved to Homebush and I was working as a costume character.
IMO it was much better at Sydney Showgrounds.

They have a MX stunt team this year, but PP still talks about the stunt driving and mechanical “dragon” from last year (the one that shoots fire and is often at monster truck shows), I thrived on the stunt driving as a kid, wood chopping, vege display (your not the only one cords) and the dog trials. I do like the animals but being that I went to an Ag high school and done my time farming/hunting and did Wool Husbandry as an elective it isn’t as much fun looking as it is getting hands on.

It is all about enjoying it through the kids eyes and PP is frothing to take me as we’ve never been together.
Like db says, it is dammed expensive. $36 adult, $23.50 child (at least it includes transport). Rides are payed via coupons most are 7 coupons per ride ($1/coupon or 75 for $65). I’m hoping to budget it to $200 but showbags will be the stinger $25 looks like the priciest. Then there’s food/drink.

I aim to start the day as early as possible (8:30am), this gives a few hours without crowds but PP loves the fire works and that means being there until 9pm. I have the guides and done some planning. I’m sure we’ll both be exhausted before it gets late.
