I am usually last to defend girls in these kinds of situations, but I have to say that my small hands really struggle for the strength to tighten normal snowboard boot laces properly - especially in the cold.
The northwave system still requires you to tighten the laces yourself, but it gives you some little hand grips and also once you pull tight, the laces don’t get loose again when you release the pressure…you have to flick a little switch to get them to loosen. I love it! There is a lace for the bottom section and a lace for the top section.
Well the single boa tightens from the top only! I would complain about that too. It was a good step in technology but not effective until the dual boa came in.
Have you tried the single BOA??
It’s like having normal lace boots and then just pulling them tight from the top only! They’re terrible!
It’s no wonder they break too, the whole boots pressure is on one point!
The dual boa is (in theory) the same as burton or any other quick lace system. They tighten the lower zone and then the upper zone separately. I reckon they would work fine. They just don’t come in boots that fit me well.
No love for any BOA or fast lacing system from me.
Lace up all the way. I find I get the best control of how tight everything is with them, plus lace up looks the best.
When you’ve been using Lace for 10 years, then that bit of extra time isn’t essential. It takes me longer to put my boots on, but I can have them off and tied back up within 3-4 minutes when I’m rushing for that last bus off the hill!
also check out this thread for an idea of what boots people around have bought. I am currently rocking Nitro Team TLS. I’ve only worn them for 2 days and they seem ok. Really good heel hold, but also quite tight around the ankle on my foot. Hopefully that will pack out a bit over time. One of the boots has been getting a bit of moisture inside the little transparent air cell in the heel, which is annoying but not sure if I can be stuffed taking it back under warranty for what seems to be a cosmetic issue.
Thanks for all the info guys
so definitely no for single boad, double boa i will consider (if it is on the most comfortable boot i try), lance up i will take no hesitation
While ive got everyones attention, anyone boarding down in perisher this coming season?

Hey guys

2011 GNU carbon credit series 153
2011 Burton Cartel medium acid testWHERE/WHAT TO START LOOKING AT???
Hey Dylan,
Sorry I’m late on this one.
Have a read of this boot fitting article I put together: https://www.boardworld.com.au/snowboarding/content/category/boot-fitting/
It covers the basics of what you need to know about buying and trying on boots. It’s hard to recommend a particular boot because there’s no way of knowing which brand/model will fit your foot shape. The best bit of advice I can give you is go to a good snowboard store and talk to someone who really knows the products. Try on as many boots as possible and listen to their advice.
I will mention though, you usually get what you pay for with boots. The more expensive boots have better features and better materials; which means they fit properly for longer and they last longer in general.
I really like my single BOA. It tightens the lower part and pulls my heel into the back of my boot, I can “pop” it to walk around or get more circulation. They are K2.
I will probably get dbl BOA in the future. Heard no complaints in the last few years and they are so so so so fast to put on/off.
Thanks for all the info guys

Yep, hittin up P for the first time in over a decade this year thanks to BWM. Especially Caboose. Will be driving from SW Sydney regularly if you ever need a ride.
I’ll be boarding perisher as regularly as possible as well!
i have solamon f20’s (speed lacing system) i love it, never had issues with the system. I have never tried the boa boots but next pari i may look into it.
Thanks for all the info guys

Oui Cabby and Oz!!!
Hey Guys i really need your help,
since i had issues with my burton SLX boots i am contemplating buying new boots i went and saw Rob from stm and he recommended me to get burton hail which they look nice and they are the shoelace system which apparently he recommends more over the fast system and he thinks it will be better for my foot.
now what i need to ask you guys is this do you think i should give another go on SLX and see if i can just break them in or do you think i should go with new boots, the reason i am wondering on what to do is what happens if i get the boots and i still have same problem.
i spoke to Rob as well and there is not much that he can do to the boot as BURTON SLX where made just to be warn apparently and he said that he cant mold them or even punch them basically he said that there is not much he can do.
i know at the end of the day this is all up to me and blah blah just looking for some ideas/recommendations on what you guys would do.
Thanks Heaps.
Considering the pain you’re in with the SLX, and what Rob has told you (I trust his judgement), I would strongly recommend getting new boots.
Finney rides in Burton Hails and he really likes them. He even mentioned buying a new pair of the same boots before the end of the season.
I hate to say it man, but cut your losses and get something that works for you…
Did you try the SLX on before you got them? And what is the problem? I’m sure you’ve covered all basis of options if you’ve already talked to a fitter, but often custom footbeds fix most peoples problems.
If you’ve really exhausted all options for the SLX, then yep, I’d agree. Go for another boot.
You can pick up good boots for pretty much nothing these days, my 32 lashed cost me only about $100aus, shipped - those can be molded too. You don’t need to go for the latest model boots to have a good performing boot.
