You make an excellent point good sir…......

Was thinking of the jacket for a birthday present (in May) for myself though LOL

All the disposable cash I have at the shred is going to be channelled into a new (well actually, probably 2nd hand) board so I can retire the dinsoaur !!

Gahh now I have even more options!!! Damn you Mizu rage

You are better off getting a thinner jacket (not down padded) and then wearing hoodies under it on colder days or thermals if you are really cold.

Remember at the shred, Jeremy brings tons of boards for you to try. Might be better off trying a few and then making a decision… I think there are a few people around that have boards they wouldn’t mind selling as well, I have a Capita Green Machine 154 which I never ride anymore that I would sell for 1/2 what I bought it for. Still in great condition, just not the board for me. smile I’ll probably bring some to the shred for people to ride if they want. Just make sure you bring bindings as they are harder to come across.

At the moment I’m tossing up between the Quiksilver Renegade and the Billabong Matt…..

. . . ripcurl paragon jacket yestreday and it was sooooo sweet, but then I saw the price tag… $550

C’mon bro, why buy surf brands when there are plenty of awesome snowboarding brands to choose from. Look at it from a loyalty perspective - if snowboarding starts to decline sharply in popularity, the surf and ski brands will be quick to ditch and run.

I also tried on a few 2011/2012 Burton jackets and was a little meh….

Would love to try on some of the current 3CS range, but can’t find a stockist in Perth rage

Yep, 3CS is a great choice - nothing but positive reviews. Burton‘s outerwear is great quality, but if the look doesn’t do it for you, try Special Blend, Foursquare (my all-time favourite), Analog (all owned by Burton, but different styling), but it’s really good stuff. Sessions, 686, Grenade, Holden, ThirtyTwo - plenty of choice, and you’re supporting the sport of snowboarding, not just companies wanting to cash in while the going’s good.

@Chucky: Totally understand your point of view dude but I’d like to try on the gear before purchase and having only one store in the whole of Perth coupled with their terrible range means I’m kinda limited.

I could wait until the shred as suggested by Mizu, but I am a little concerned that I run the risk of there being a limited selection in my size (XL) and the jackets I want at that time of year as the only stock left on the racks will be clearance stuff…

Maybe thats just being alarmist .. .. .. ??  shut eye

@TJ: I definatlety plan to put out the call before the shred that I’m looking for a 2nd hand board… Love to try out some of the demos and maybe give someones old board a new home to boot LOL

Thanks for the heads up on bringing some spare bindings.

Yeah mate, good point. We’re a bit spoilt for choice here.

I agree with the other guys. Definitely look for a shell jacket. This gives you the best performance and the most versatility. You can wear a shell in -15C in Japan or +10C spring conditions in Australia (as long as you layer accordingly).

3CS makes great stuff. I’ve been stoked with my outerwear. I’m not just saying that because they are a sponsor. I chased them as a sponsor because I really believed in the brand and product. Super legit Aussie brand making quality outerwear. I understand the dilema regarding retailers in Perth.

Feel free to start another thread regarding jacket options if you’d like. smile

Last night I learnt that my back condition (bad enough yesterday after six 20min games of soccer on saturday that I couldn’t stand up straight at all yesterday) is helped immensely by sleeping on my side foetal style with a pillow between my knees. I already slept on my side but the pillow between my knees seems to have really given the affected muscles a chance to rest and relax. Nearly feels like magic. Usually it takes about 3 days to come good.
A friend who is doing masters in chiro gave me the tip & I am ever so grateful!

I always sleep with a pillow between the knees. It was also suggested to me by a chiropractor. Michelle calls it my ‘groin pillow’. LOL

Good to hear it’s helping you, cords!

I have bought 4 of my 5 jackets online having never tried them on previously. If you like the design just grab it iff the net mate, the sizing is pretty hard to get wrong (google xxxx snowboard jacket size review) to see if the jacket is a longer cut etc.

I always sleep with a pillow between the knees.

It’s lifesize, with a Japanese schoolgirl printed on it. Jez got his after seeing James Franco with a similar one on “30 Rock”.
