So who rides a Bataleon or Lobster with a TBT base?
I’ve always been super interested in this idea but have never got a chance to demo one.
I think it would have the benifits of a camber with less catchy-ness.
I think the negatives would be it doesn’t carve quite as hard as a camber and I feel like if I pushed a nose or tail edge down to stop my rotation at the end of a spin the edge would be bent away from where i want it.
But I’m just guessing.
So what type of Bataleon or Lobster do u ride?
And what can u tell me about it?
I’m looking at buying a new Bataleon Riot… but I’m still on the fence.
For those not familiar with what “TBT” is!!!!!!
Dunno if ya seen this already, Andy?????
I definitely want to demo one of those boards. I’d be interested to hear if there’s a demo day somewhere.
MU
very interesting. I think the Evil Twin might be my dream board, I just haven’t ridden one yet!
That second video is interesting? How on earth does he think it’s no good for jibbing??
I mean I know it won’t press like a rocker but has he seen the Helgason Brothers Urban Video?
Or this rail jam vid?
i usually don’t bother watching those ‘snowboard review’ youtube vids. They are pretty stupid and the conclusions they draw are either straight out of the catalogue, or even worse, totally wrong. There’s a pretty terrible one on the Nug somewhere.
A good way to check is to look back and find a review of the Capita TFA. Capita screwed up and said it wasn’t as stiff as the BSOD and a season later they adjusted the ratings. If you check the reviews most of the people just wrote that it wasn’t as stiff as the BSOD which just proved they hadn’t ridden both boards. Anyways, I digress.
I’ve ridden the evil twin. When you go on edge, it’s like you have to tip the board more to get to it, so you think you’re going to fall before it kicks in. After one run though I was used to it and carving fine. I liked the board but then I got on another buddy’s smokin’ superpark and it was way better. Then I got back on my Nug and liked it even better
Thanks for the feedback mate.
Since I can’t find a demo day I’m trying to get as many peoples thoughts on them as possible.
What you said about leaning further was one of my worries about the board.
I found turning to be fine… then I jumped on a box and fell over because of it… would be good for boardslides I’d say though…
I rode the Fun Kink.
I think finney is riding an evil twin right now.
I rode an Airobic for 2 seasons (also demoed the evil twin and goliath), coming from a TRS with regular cam and magnetraction, The main thing I noticed was the difference in edging technique - TRS was an easy lazy tip on edge, and held really well but I found carving a little catchy. The TBT required a lot more effort to tip on edge and hold edge, great for developing ankle strength and reducing inclination. I consider it to be a big step in my riding development, making that step from intermediate to advanced very noticeable.
Airobic was awesome on everything, gave me guts to hit rails and boxes, presses and butters are super easy (but not completely catch free), carving took more effort but only really noticeable after jumping back on a non-TBT board. Float in pow was phenomenal, I was riding 151 in 40cm of fresh, without much leg burn. I ‘d consider going back to a TBT but for now am liking zero rocker (flat) board DH2.
I really want the Airobic but it only goes up to 156W which is probably too short for me.
I’m looking at getting the Riot 159W but it’s pretty stiff.
I’m not sure which to get cause I haven’t demoed any Bataleon.
Thanks for the info bro
The Airobic in 56W wouldn’t be too short - it is a jib board, and made to ride shorter after all. Evil Twin man, it’s basically the riot with more flex and less inserts.
i have the 2012 airobic if you search tbt or bataleon or lobster on the forums you can see what i think of it…... ps: get one!
Cheers Cable, I searched up your posts.
no worries might be a bit vague but any questions on anything specific let us know…. seriously buy one lol
