New GoPro Hero 2

A couple of mates and I are deciding to all chip in to get a GP2 next week. Thinking of buying it in store for $399, is there anywhere I can get it cheaper so we can buy accessories for it.

that’s a pretty expensive price.  Just hit up some other camera stores and see what they can do.  Lanox got a really good deal on his.  If you’re going to bundle enough accessories, consider ordering direct from GoPro in the US.  They have a high shipping charge but the lower gear cost offsets it if you buy enough stuff.

We might look at buying it off the website, bundled with clamps and stuff.

Drift HD comes with better accessories, have better add on’s, better service and aren’t lying in their marketing material like GoPro constantly do - the registered name is misleading - GoPro is not a professional product.

Drift HD $349(rrp)
BWM discounts and package deals available (contact me)

I also sell GoPro mount adaptors and SD cards 8GB-32GB ($25-$70) class 10 and micro SD.

I have a quick question(and the only thing I will be posting/reading until April):

I love my new GoPro HD Hero2 and the shots I made last vacation are from an amazing quality(pics will follow :D)
The only problem I had was that the battery was almost always dead by noon. Really annoying if you are, like me, get taught in the morning.
I charged it to full every night and still by noon it was empty.(I did not put the camera on btw)

Is this normal? Is there a way to store it without it loosing battery or accidentally going on in your backpack for example? Or am I doing something wrong?

([random]btw I somehow managed to break the GoPro’s case/mounting system ^^ but Blue Tomato fixed it for free so no problem there :p)

Did ya fully charge it the very first time ya got it????? Or did ya play with it before it was fully charged?????

Lith batteries can sometimes do this if ya don’t do the full charge cycle the first few times!!!!!

Also keepin the battery/camera in a warm place, as cold will deplete the battery also!!!!!

How much footage do ya get????? Time wise!!!!!

Have ya got an LCD Bacpac?????

Yeah that doesn’t make sense that the battery would drain while the cam is off…. Have you googled if anyone else has had the same prob? Maybe get in touch with gopro and see what they reckon….

I did fully charged it the first time, then goofed around with it but fully recharged it every time.
I had the camera in my backpack on a sweater, I could put it in the sweater though.

The amount of footage I get? hmmm in the morning probably the standard as every GoPro (2.5h??) I haven’t tried recording a full battery yet.

I don’t have an LCD bacpack.

Well one of my guesses was that it would turn on in my backpack from the pressure when sitting with it on my back in the lift. So i tried putting in my pocket from my jacket, but you can’t really know for sure it didn’t turn on by accident unless you hold it in your hand all the time. I don’t always hear the startup beep sound when boarding(yeah I’m pretty deaf :D)

I will google it later anyway ^^

Sounds like a problem with the battery and something that should be covered under warranty. I would get in touch with GoPro or the store you bought it from. The battery should not drain by the next day when not using it (maybe if the GoPro was turned on but not otherwise). I seriusly doubt it would turn on without you knowing. Those buttons are fairly solid to push and you need to hold it down for a second, so a slight bump wouldn’t do it. I’ve kept the battery in my GoPro for weeks on end without using it, and it’s pretty much had a full charge when I turned it back on. Likewise, I always ride with it in my pocket and it’s never turned on by accident. Get in touch with them for sure!

EDIT: I guess you could test it one night. Charge the battery and leave it in the GoPro, leave it out on a table or somewhere it won’t be touched for the day, and see if the battery is fully charged? If not, warranty it!

Sounds like a solid plan ^^ will test tonight!

2.5 hours is all ya will get from the battery!!!!! That is a LOT of footage!!!!!

If ya wanna extend that, ya gonna have to carry a second battery or get the BacPac battery!!!!!

hmmm, I’ve had problems with my battery too. Nothing as drastic as that, but come to think of it, one time when it was supposed to be charged it was dead in the morning. Tomorrow’s a powder day so I guess I will test it again.
With my old one I never had it die on me, with the 2, I’ve had it run out by noon as a matter of course.

Ignore my last post!!!!! I am now with the program!!!!!  teacherboy

That does sound weird!!!!! It’s like the camera must be drawing power from the battery, even while it’s off?????

Is the battery the same as in the HD Hero, Gamblor?????

Maybe need to swap the batteries over with ya mate that ya sold ya old one to, just to pinpoint if it’s the battery or the camera?????

Just checked, yep same battery!!!!!

There’s definitely some threads about battery drain issues on the web…. People are mainly talking about getting less than 2hours off a single charge…...
