Nice. Make sure to post pics, deano.
You’re in for a lot of fun. Over the space of a few years, I built up a hardtail mountain bike from high end retro parts (and some newer ones). As far as I’m aware, the (15 year old) titanium frame is the only one in Australia, so it was worth the effort.
I just got rid of my 25th Anniversary (1999) Mongoose Menace.
I know it’s not full old school, but it was still pretty cool.
Didn’t want to get rid of it but I only have room for one bike at my new place, so I kept my MTB seeing as though my house pretty much backs on to my fav XC trails.
Pretty keen to get another BMX at some stage though. Once I buid my shed.

i would have bought that off ya!
haha ah well
I guess it wouldn’t help to tell you it went to the tip then, would it…
Yea if you were in Sydney, I would have bought it as well…
just got some cheap araya wheels to use whilst i build this bad boy up.
Will wait till next pay to grab the tuffs and other assorted new gear.
Will wait till i pick up my frames etc tomorrow to see what is salvagable.
I got worried this thread was going to go in a bad direction then (MTB).
I’m such a BMX bandit.
I sold off my Twister in 2009 for extra funds to move to Thredbo. Haven’t had a BMX since.
The first thing I did when I got my first job (14yo) was to laybuy a Mongoose Californian It felt like it took forever to pay it off.
I’m such a Bandit I can’t ride a MTB (seriously!) - hard tail is ok. I don’t get why bikes have gears, on a BMX you don’t even need brakes, just whack out a power slide.
Love the yellow Mongoose db (or is it a Gemini) maybe it’s green
I got my first Mongoose when I was 14 too!!!!!
Had red anodized araya’s (better and lighter than tuff’s), with blue tyres that had a gum sidewall!!!!!
Got it from Dapto Sports and Cycles for 320 big ones!!!!! A bloody lot of cash back in the day!!!!!
I always wanted Tuffs because they look so cool. When I found out how easily they buckle and the benefit of lightweight alloy I stuck with spokes.
Always thought these were the bomb
yeh araya’s are the sh!t! got some on their way as we speak.
That wheel above looks awesome!
