Old school bmx

Avatar

Anyone got any old school bmx bikes they ride/built/have in the garage?

After cruising another forum i frequent, and checking on ozbmx.com i have decided to build up a bmx just for shits and giggles.
Not going to be anything fancy/expensive, just basic frame, bars etc. but im def getting some new skyway tuffs rims (or decent 2nd hand ones if they are the right price)

Unsure of the colour scheme i iwll roll with, at first i was going to do Jayz on Kanye (black on black) but now not so sure…

These are the Skyway Tuffs wheels (middle shot shows a 6 spoke variation but the 5 spoke is the usual combo);

It’s so rad that you can still buy Tuff wheels!

THRASHING!!! killer movie, RAD the bmx movie was pretty awesome too, he wins the race at the end by doing a backflip, ground breaking stuff back then!

Oh yeah, Thrashing…........... they cut the roof off the big ol yank tank to make it convertible.

In the Bones movie, Animal Chin, they did a take off of the same scene. smile

and in RAD, they were trying to land a loop to loop or backflip from memory. Had a hot chick, I think she ended up in the sitcom Full House. ??

I’ll see that, and raise you one viewing of the original “Skateboard” movie, starring Leif Garrett, at a drive-in as a kid.

P.S. My mates rode their BMX’s 90km in the Sydney to Gong last November… they were pretty freaken quick too. I am going to join them in November this year on a BMX and do it as well! smile

BMX Bandits is one of my most favourite movies. I can actually recite it pretty much verbatim when I watch it.

The scene where they take their bikes down the waterslides at Manly was the dreamiest thing of my childhood. When I was at uni we got to go there and I was the happiest kid alive that day!

I love watching it now and seeing that it is obviously a bloke with a red curly wig on doing Nicole K’s stunts for her. Never had a clue when I was little. I wanted a blue Mongoose like Goose’s one so bad!

Dude! THAT’s impressive!

Were there any hipsters doing the Gong ride on fixies?

@Azz - Gleaming The Cube and RAD - I LOVE THOSE F%$&*NG Movies!!!  Christian Slater had some really good character specific roles, Wouldn’t it be great to have a mate that can tow you on a board behind a pizza hut delivery truck to stop some huge injustice?!!

Specially when that mate is Tony Hawk !!!!!!

Pretty much the whole bones brigade were in the film. I think it was Mike McGill (dude that invented the McTwist) that was the stunt double for the under the truck bit.
