And both those guys rode Burton binders!!!!! Gamblor…....... oh Gamblooorrr!!!!!!

Devun Walsh is currently using Burton straps on his NOW bindings. However, we need to take into account that these are still not full production models, which won’t be out until September. Consider them still in ‘Beta testing’.

On the “doubts” about these bindings applying more or less pressure for the same energy expended - by all accounts to date, they apply more pressure, as it’s concentrated just on the edge.

My thoughts were that you would be inclining and angulating more in a turn to put the board on the same edge as normal bindings. In my mind I can see that making your center of balance further from your board and consequently - less stable in a carve.

When you tilt a skate board, the trucks move the wheels in a ‘4 wheel steer’ motion. As you know.
But the board can’t do that. It can apply more pressure to the edge, but will that outweigh having to lean more into a turn?

My guess is this will make snowboarding easier for Beginners and easier for intermediate riders to carve. But I think that it will be mostly a hindrance for advanced riders. But I’m just speculating, that’s why I deleted what I wrote earlier.

And hey! Even if it can only achieves that. That’s a huge thing and they will have a home in snowboarding from here on.

ummm not much id think as the movement is mostly side to side/edge to edge

No other binding on the market rocks on a fixed fulcrum.

What I am sayin is that with todays materials, I think they can imitate the same movement as this fulcrum!!!!!

The NOW fulcrum is seriously stiff metal - and I recon any attempt to replicate the movement on another binding without this essential component would result in a sloppy, unresponsive binding.

The fulcrum is combined with the rubber bushings, so that then gives the feel of the flex that conventional current day bindings do already!!!!! It may well just feel like a different flex pattern!!!!!

That’s how envision it would work, but I may be wrong!!!!! It would be great to have a few sets at the Shred so all of us can have an open and honest test!!!!!
