queenstown season

Avatar

hey guys,

Didn’t wanna highjack the blog thread, so who’s doing the season in Queenstown? I got here at the start of the week, finding it near impossibly to get a job and still lookin’ for somewhere to live. Anyone got any tips or whatnot, help a brother out!

Cheers

Hey dude,

I am also doing the season here. Jobs are very hard to come by and will be for a period of time. The locals tell me as the season picks up more jobs will be required, and as people will also leave because they can’t find a job. With winterfest a couple of weeks away, the jobs will be coming (or so I’m assured by locals). You probably would have noticed that half the town is doing resume drops in every place at the moment so competition is really fierce. Not really sure what type of work you are looking for, but the Mountain Scene and the Lakes Weekly are also good places to look for work, as well as Seek.co.nz and Trademe.co.nz

In terms of accomodation, the Lakes Weekly is your best bet. It comes out every tuesday morning and you can pick it up out the front of betty’s liquer stores and other places. It is also available online Monday night, so your best bit is to log on to the website http://www.lwb.co.nz are get on to the people listing accommodation before it goes.

Hope that helps.

maybe you should have organised all that before going?

not doin the season but will be there in august. looks like a great start and with remarkables opening today so very jealous of not bein there at the moment.
hope all goes well for ya bud.

cheers for that. i’ve been told the same thing about jobs coming available in the next few weeks for winterfest. been working bars since 06 so that’s what i’m looking for. Just have to keep looking and make sure i don’t spend all my cash before i get a job

accommodation was sorted with the college here until i had a seizure 2 days before flying over so now that isn’t an option because i can’t get into my course.

and i emailed about 20 pubs before i arrived and they all said the same thing, drop a cv in when you get here
