Time for a new board! help!

Avatar

I currently have as my main board - a rome Machine 157W camber. I think its from about 2006. so I have had it for way longer than I really should have.

I am looking for something that is True Twin, Wide, Rocker and around 158 probably.

possibly also interested in - magne traction and hybrid rockers if someone was convincing enough.

Also…I might be interested in some sort of edge system that helps prevents catch ups on rails/boxes etc. Although to be fair ill be bound to manage it anyway.

So any suggestions or ideas would be very helpful. I was looking in Cabooses thread and was nearly convinced about YES boards until the defect issues were mentioned…..

I wouldn’t worry about the defect issues, mate!!!!!

They are only cosmetic really, and if ya the type of person that takes care of their gear, ya got nothin to worry about!!!!!

I have ridden the magnetraction and found it more of a marketin hype more than anythin imho!!!!!

I do like the feel of the CamRock over the opposite hybrid in the Lib-Tech’s C2 as well!!!!!

I think that the different profiles fall into either of two categories!!!! Either a “loose” or “solid” feel, as to how the board responds!!!!! Just depends on what ya preference is!!!!!

I put it down to either wantin a “loose” feel in the rocker/C2 or, if ya prefer a more “solid” responsive feel of a camber/CamRock ride!!!!! No matter what brand ya get!!!!!

A board with rocker/C2 willl definitely be better on boxes/rails etc, but will lose out to a cambered/CamRock style of board when the snow gets hardpacked/icy or fast!!!!!

Maybe sounds like mumbo jumbo, but hope this helps a little?????

Nitro Sub Zero has gulwing camber. Rocker in teh middle and camber under foot. It has their Drifter base. edges are lifterd up of the snow for catch free rail/kink riding.

Bateleon does Triple Base Tech. Lifted edges too I believe.

Does Burton have a version of this?

^^^^^ Somethin like that would be super loose!!!!!

Yeh apparently it takes a bit to get used to. But is super poppy! And for spins onto rails and on rails it is unreal. And Ive been told that when on edge it still carves rather good

Lib Tech anything and you’ll be happy ha ha ha ha!  Yes boards are noodles.

LOL Only when stir fried!!!!!

the yes defects are only to do with basic cosmetic things that wont affect riding at all.

Sorry Mizu I just had to, JD and I are round 5783 of the NBG Open of Liver Kill, JD seems to be winning this round 18.43 to 10.07 on the two night totals.  At risk of appearing repetitive I’m going back to the dungeon.  Next weekend however is shaping up rather differently.

Sorry Crackers, just go demo a shedload of stuff and work out for yourself that you really want a Gnu Riders Choice.

I have dated my fair share of supermodels but they’re a bunch of superficial losers, I need something with more substance…....................................  Cough bullshit cough.

Ill have a look into those suggestions. Is it Burton that has slimewall or some such?

What didn’t you like about magne traction Mizu? or was it just that you felt it didn’t make much of a difference?

The reason i was tending towards a rocker shape was that it will work better in pow and give me less hook ups on rails….im just worried about exactly what you mentioned - that ill have less control on icy/hard packed….which also might be less on park jumps?

I’m pretty sure slimewalls is what’s on Ride boards
