New Trucks! + Advice please :)

Avatar

So, I was looking at all the random skate parts that I had lying around and I realized I had everything thing I needed to make up a second board (except the trucks)
So I decided to make a street board and bought some new trucks. Since I love my old trucks so much (Indy Stage 10s) when I saw these I thought HELL YEAH.
The exact same truck but hollowed and forged. I weighed them and they are about 20-25% lighter.

But I found that because they are Koston’s trucks, they come with soft Indy Red bushes.
No problems I went and got some hard Indy Blacks. BUT they are still soft?? WTF?

My old indy’s have Indy Yellows which are medium. How can ‘Hard’ be softer than ‘Medium’??
My only guess is that I’ve had them for about 8 months I think. So maybe they went harder with age and when I switched to my new board and bigger wheels they worked.
Cause I have the blacks as tight as they go and they still bite.
I don’t want to swap the old bushes cause they look like they are starting to crack, so I don’t want to move them if they still work.

So for now I’m just going use my old trucks on my pool board and put the new trucks on my street board with little 52 wheels. That should work without biting. But if anyone has any advice for me, it would be much appreciated smile

you can swap the bushes for some doh dohs or bones ones.. they come in various durometer .. the doh dohs slightly sit wierd in the bottom cup but it will shave off any excess… also what i do is mix it up and say put a stiffer one in the bottom cup and softer one in the top cup or vice versa ... they are cheap so get a few and play around

Good plan. I have used doh dohs in an old set up, you’re right they don’t really fit right. That’s why i went with the indy bushes, cause they are made to fit. But since they don’t work, lol… maybe I’ll try the bones bushes.

the bones are coned in design so with indy trucks and cups should work well the come in soft med or hard so go nuts

Try bones bushings. I’ve heard they’re good. If not, just tighten your trucks super hard LOL

You can still get wheel bite on really tight trucks/hard bushes. Just means it has more resistance on the way down. Was it feeling soft? Or you just worried bout the fact it has so much range of movement?

Nah I actually ate s@#$ a few times testing them lol. They just suck. I’m not sure why. The Blacks are harder than the reds but they still bite.
The yellow bushes (mediums) from my old indys are awesome and never bite. Weird.

I gave up and put the new trucks on my street board, it’s fine on that set up with little wheels. But to be honest they are still kinda crap. They don’t rebound, the board just stays tilted to what ever side you lean it too.

I was looking at bones bushes like you guys said. The whole ‘hard core’ thing seams like a good idea.
So I ordered some rocker

I’ll let you know how they go when I get them.

Either way, I’m glad I got the trucks, it’s fun having a little street board to practice ollies and flip tricks.

That definately doesnt sound right if they are not rebounding at all and staying tilted!!! Either the bushes are faulty, or hopefully nothing is up with the trucks. Just doesnt make sense.

Maybe its ur massive feet are just too big of a lever haha. they look like this dont they?

Doh Doh make a special flatter cup washer that fits their rubbers, instead of usin stock ones!!!!!

They also provide slightly better “rebound” because they are wider in diameter!!!!! Hence why they don’t really fit into standard cups!!!!!

Hahahaha jerk.
But yeah that’s how big my feet feel when i skate on an average size deck.

It could be the trucks themselves…  blank stare  i really hope not.
Both my sets of trucks a stage 10 Indys. But the new one are a bit of a different shape.
I’ll find out when I get those bones bushings.

If the new bushes dont have any more of a positive effect on them, id take the trucks back to the shop to have a look at them.

Where did you buy them?

The rebound on some stock bushings is crap, they tend to jam and not work. That is why some companies use bones bushings as a standard bushing.
Bones bushings are really good, I have been using them for the past 4 years and am stoked on them.
With putting them on indy’s make sure you put them on without the bottom washer.
