so, Chucky, did you get a split yet? I remember tr’s from last year of you hiking out far. Is there a Spliff in your future?
I’m dead keen, but I just can’t justify the cost. Next time I don’t buy a season pass, I may get a split instead (Jones Hovercraft probably).
Split technology’s really improving as it gets more popular - especially bindings. In a couple of years, they’ll have it totally sorted. I’d be stoked if they’d come up with an easier system for climbing skins.

I’d like to see Spark R&D add a clip-in padded footbed onto these:
Also, beware of YES quality - the internet is full of YES and Jones defects (both made by Nidecker). My friends’ Tadashi board’s graphics have rubbed off between the bindings!!! WTF is that? I’ve heard the same thing about a Jones Mountain Twin.
The graphics on my Typo has rubbed off where i put my boot whilst skating(just in front of the rear binding) although the graphics are on the surface so it is kinda understandable but still i would have liked it to last longer then 3 days. But thats the only issue i have with the board
Sorry i forgot to put the flash on and i cant be f*#ked shooting another one
I think that Marc and finney have had slight issues with their Tasmaniac’s deck finish also, but nothin that has affected the performance of the boards!!!!!
I have only had 12 days on mine so far, with no probs as yet!!!!!
Mizu, graphic performance is a high priority too!
oh this is one of those threads

Only when the images have been properly de-tuned though!!!!!

that is cool
heaps better than when i split my board & had to stuff around with putting bolts in
also should allow you to have different angles of your bindings
Riding Rome Mod True Twin 154 - gotta be 5 seasons old
Freaking love this board
last season Rome did the mod with a hybrid camber but this season they only have the Mod in camber or rocker - not hybrid
http://www.romesnowboards.com/boards/mod-rocker/
http://www.romesnowboards.com/boards/mod/and i gotta say the deck graphics suck dogs balls too ...... :sigh:
and god i hate the carp gnar rad descriptions they come up with - FFS use english to explain your productwas wanting to try a hybrid camber board so it is softer in tip & tail, but camber under feet - don’t want a full rocker board
so suggest brands and board similar to this style, size
Sorry I’m late on this one. I’ll reply with my thoughts before I read all the other replies.
The Mod Rocker isn’t a full rockered board. It’s actually what I would consider a hybrid. The board is mostly flat; it’s flat between the feet and extends to the outside of the feet, with rocker only at the nose and tail. I actually think the Mod Rocker would be an awesome board to ride and it’s been at the top of my ‘really want to try’ list. (Oh and I’ve seen the board in person, I actually love the graphics ).
That said, definitely look at the YES. range. They are manufacturing awesome boards out of the Nidecker factory in Switzerland. In my opinion, they are leading the way with CamRock type camber profiles (camber between the feet, rocker nose and tail).
I’m fairly sure I’m going to buy one of the YES. Greats for next season. I tested the Tasman(iac) last season in Australia, which is based on the Greats (basically the same board). It was a really awesome board to ride. You can read my review here. Several other members have either tested or purchased a YES. Tasman(iac), which they all love. Just ask Finney or Marc.
Check out the 2013 YES. Greats graphics here. Or have a look at the other boards in their range and see what appeals.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hey Guys
Yeah if you are after the whole CamRock board, then i can highly recommend the Yes Basic or Greats series, My tasman(iac) rides unreal. I have a few issues with the top sheet where it appears to have sort of impact cracking from just standing on it where the stomp pad should go, appears the top sheet material on the tasman(iac) is really brittle and kinda looks like its shattered/spider webbed. This was probably more my aggressive riding, mizu’s seen me riding and jumping off stupid things. The greats series doesnt have the same top sheet material as the tasman(iac).
Finney hasn’t had the same problem with his tasman(iac). He has another issue thats caused from flexing, but ill let him explain it.
Although with the issues my tasman(iac) has me more stoked to ride more than ever. Its an unreal board with a asymmetrical sidecut(different sidecut on the toes and heals), which makes for tight heal turns and mellowed out toe turns. The CamRock profile works really well for me, weather its riding 40cm of fresh powder with ease, to getting 130km speeds down hard pack steep runs, and handling the icey cat tracks on the ride off the mountain.
Other boards worth checking out Caboose could be the Forum line of double-dog boards, like the destroyer or youngbloods, prior to my YES board i was always a big lover of the Forum boards, fairly simple graphics and simple shapes. My last youngblood 154 was an absolute awesome board, lasted me a season in whistler last year, and then the season at perisher, very versatile board, worked well in the park, but the camber profile worked good in the powder just as well. Or the new DC boards have a similar camber profile as your nitro, the ply 154 is the one that would probably work well for you, very similar to what i can see of the nitro’s shape, but i believe the ply is probably a more park orientated board.
Depends really on what you ride more and how you ride. Best thing i can suggest though is to give a Demo day a go. They normally happen at different resorts in Aus towards the start of the season, and most mountains/stores do demo boards where u rent and if u buy they take the rental price off the board price. Its normally a good try before you buy and if it doesnt work your not the complete price of a board outta pocket.
Hopefully that will help you out Caboose. Hopefully not too many options for you.
Yeah I can vouch for Marc’s lack of kindness to his YES!!!!!
He didn’t treat his head and tail bone with any more respect either, for that matter!!!!!
hahaha more issues with YES. Nidecker need to get their act in order. I won’t be surprised if Gigi’s Slash boards have issues too.
I believe Torstein’s DC board has camber between the feet and flat zones underfoot and near the nose and tail. Looks like a very nice board and you know what Torstein can do with it.
dude, torstein could ride like he does on a fence paling…
He isn’t bad on ski blades either.
