Fair enough!!!!!
Lookin forward to it next week then!!!!!
Pretty much the best day of snowboarding in my 3 seasons of shredding (the best run is still the run I did on west bowl last season after 3 days of storm). After Jeremy and Marc went back I go back up to Peak once again. Visibility become pretty bad by that time, decided to hit bagel bowl, chopped up pow in most places but there some spots with freshies. Favorite run of the day was probably Whistler bowl to Doom&Gloom;. Got a video of Jeremy and Marc hitting a side hit near Red Chair.
Absolutely shattered.. without a doubt one of the busiest days of the season and it just didn’t die off until after 3pm. Extended hours kicked in today so we’re open until 4pm now. Tonne of work to do after close to clean up the lift after everyone had left and didn’t end up swiping out of work until 5:25 which made it an 11 hour day.
One more day of work then I can finally rest up and hopefully ride if the foot decides to co-operate.
Jeremy, today I was inspired by your post last week about being rewarded for spending an hour in line waiting for peak to open, so I followed your lead.
After a few laps of red chair following a fresh tracks breakfast, I decided to join the line at peak. I was probably 50th in line. I think I probably waited about an hour and do not regret a minute of it. I went down whistler bowl, headed skiers right and then over the ridge. Rode my own beautiful amazing fresh line all the way down the face under the chair!! I was stoked; that was all I needed. I couldn’t face joining the line again (had been in lines since 5.50am this morning) so just hit a few laps of Garbs and called it a day.
There is nothing better than the feeling of riding a fresh steep line in powder. I love it that powder makes everyone so happy, and no-one can hold it in. Being surrounded by people screaming out in joy, as you do yourself; it’s an amazing vibe…god this addictive!!!
Great stuff, jacs!
Rider’s Blog: Day 47
You don’t get too many bluebird powder days in a season but today was one of them. Another 13cm of snow overnight, making it 50cm of fresh snow in 48 hours. The sun was shining and the temps were low (-16C at the Peak).
The crowds weren’t so bad today so I shot up Creek, Red, then Peak. There were some really big wind drifts off Peak and I headed over to Bagel Roll into lower West Bowl for the first run. The snow was super fresh and there was barely anyone riding there; lots of fresh lines to be had.
The rest of the mountain was in awesome shape, so even just riding down to Red was lots of fun. The new snow, cold temps, and sunshine ensured great runs no matter where you went.
I went back up Peak and did a lap through VD trees. Very nice as usual and still untouched lines. I couldn’t be bothered lining up at Peak Chair again, so I decided to do a few laps down to Garb. No lines at all and the trees were in excellent condition. I rode a bunch of different trees, just trying to find fresh snow. Did a couple of hit run laps at the end of the day which was super fun; probably the best shape it’s been in all season.
Enjoy the photos…

I was eyein off that entry into the top of Garb a few times, but it didn’t look like a snowboard friendly traverse at the top!!!!!

K2, no I haven’t this year yet. Was very temped the last couple of Saturdays. It’s ready for sure. I will definitely be hitting it this season. Groin is getting stronger too so feeling somewhat confident again.
Michelle and I are heading to the city today and coming back tomorrow. Michelle’s brother is moving to Fort Lauderdale to work on the yachts for a couple of years so we’re having dinner with the family tonight. Enjoy the snow, everyone!
I think Finney is hiking Flute Bowl today. Looking forward to hearing about it. It’s going to be pretty sweet up there.
Was going to hike flute but once out there it was too tracked so decided against it.
Did a few laps out at Symphony since I was out there and got some good fresh stuff in the trees. Got a call from my mate saying that they were going to go up and do DOA off the blackcomb glacier so shot off to meet them.
Was my first time hitting DOA and it was a pretty big hike up which took around 30mins. Once at the top the view was amazing and it looked a little tracked out but once past the main section of the chute we dropped into a great little field above the lakeside bowl traverse filled with tonnes of powder. Was a good rock drop, cornice and wall in there so we all hiked back up for a 2nd shot at hitting some of the features. Mates got some video and pictures from the day which I should have later tonight so I’ll post them soon.
a mate landed yesterday and was hitting up Flute bowl this morning, saw a few photos on facebook and i am supremely jealous…
