Good idea, I’ve actually seen this used for pro ski racer padding… don’t let that stop u from buying one though

but that’s the whole point - it’s the fact that the padding is in beans not solid that makes the difference.
I think in theory it should disperse the kinetic energy more slowly than the solid polystyrene. This means that shock to the head is transferred more slowly because the energy is released over a longer time. It’s only a difference of a few hundredths of a second, but for head injuries that may make a difference.

They could achieve a slower rate by changin the structure of the cells size and density!!!!!
