If it makes you feel any better, Mizu sprayed me in the face while I was filming. My goggles were off, jacket open, vents open, gloves off, and video camera out. He smashed me. I guess that’s karma.

Haha what a bastard!

Hey!!!!! That was skip’s fault for tellin me to do it!!!!!  smirk

Well Jeremy and other boardworld-ians just thought i’d let you know on what you missed out on today. Today’s snow was well, best put, wet heavy and australian in style. went up to symphony where i was met by fog and rain and the top station, after one lap through the adagio trees, gave up pretty quickly and decided that hit n run was the place of choice, after 2 laps and an impact with a nice ol death cookie left by a snowcat, with a painful ankle i limped down to the village where i met mizu and mrs mizu who were doing possibly the smartest thing, laps of the Fitzsimmons chair riding switch. They were done as well and retiring to the comforts of the dublin gate and a cold beverage. I had to go down the village and by the time i got back i think mizu had headed back to the hotel.

So to summaries, Jeremy i should have taken your heed and stayed at home. hehehe.

I thought that ya must’ve changed ya mind about a beer at the Dublin, Marc!!!!! Sorry mate!!!!!  teacherboy

They were sooooo slow gettin our first bevvy that we went down to Crystal’s and I tried to take the edge off my nerve pain with a few pints of finney’s fave honey ale!!!!! I was in friggin agony when I had to climb the stairs back out though!!!!! Didn’t go out on the hill till about 1:30 the next day too!!!!!

I love my SLX boots. Easily the best I’ve ever owned.

Have you tried using the J-bars to take pressure off the sore area?

nah i havnt tried them, do they come in the box with the boots or you have to get them separately ??

Yep, I have SL-10s (model before the SLX but same thing really). Best boots I’ve ever owned. I’ve put about 300 days through them so far.

What issues exactly were you having?

don’t get me wrong i love the boots first 2 days where so comfy except my little toe was getting little numb on my right foot but that went away, but for some weird reason last 4 days of my trip where nightmare my ankles where little swollen but just the pain in my ankle (part that i circled in red) was insane my last day i actually finished up 3 hours earlier as i really couldn’t take it any more.

other then that everything else was fine.

see pic its in red where my pain is.

that is not my foot just a picture i found online.

hey! nice feet! /jk

Actually I have/had the same problem with you. I used to be great in 10.5 ions then went to 10’s which resulted in major pain on the ankle bone. Same thing with slx’s.
I tried many things to fix it: putting pads under the outside of the insole to lift the ankle up a bit and exchanging the imprint 5 liner for an imprint 4 (thanks Burton!). Angling the foot beds either in towards between the feet or out towards the outside helped (different directions on different days!). Also, barely tightening the lower zone and having the upper zone a bit tighter (but still loose) helped too. Finally, when the liners broke in they were good. For my SLX’s I have been using the broken in liners from my Ions all season. Now that the outer shell has broken in I used the brand new imprint 4 liners . They are snug but no ankle pain!
Good luck with this. It’s a lot of pain if you try to ignore it. I managed to get a deep bruise that always hurt last year. Then since that spot is extra sensitive it’s hard to figure out if something is better or not

Hey i have not tried anything, i have tgried to ask them in japan and either they just laugh and look like they got no idea what i was saying or they truly didnt give a shit lol ...

do you have to buy the liners separately or does Burton just send them to you ?

@mizu: actually I want to see the awesome pictures you took (hopefully you took some) haha.

Does anyone know of a nice quite place that I could work from until I find myself a suitable house? I was thinking that the library in the village would be a great option, but apparently they don’t have wifi. Cafes with wifi (eg starbucks) are OK for workig, but they tend to be a bit noisy when I’m skyping into work meetings!!

Any ideas????

The library would be the best place. I used to work there all the time. Unless something has changed, they have really comfortable chairs and computer desks, with power points to plug in your computer, and free wifi - who told you they didn’t?

Thanks Rider; sounds perfect then! The lady at the Whistler Visitor Information Centre said they didn’t have free wifi…. glad to hear they actually do. Makes things heaps easier.

Rider’s Blog: Day 39

Went up in the afternoon and met Shane for a couple of runs. We didn’t do much; just scoped out a few areas and spots for filming. Shane has been riding with the Olliepop crew lately and we want to get him into one of the edits. The snow was still pretty icy in most areas but nice and fast for bombing runs. I worked on improving my backside spins today, with some feedback from Shane. Not much else to report but I’m looking forward to more shredding over the coming days.
