E/mail received from Waverley Council yesterday ;
The strip/repaint of the Blue Bowl is booked to commence at 7 am Monday 13
February. Our Contractors anticipate the job will take 3 days. To provide
some leeway in case of bad weather, we plan to close the Blue Bowl from
Monday 13 - Friday 17 February.
Citrus stripper will be painted or rolled on, so there will be no risk of
overspray for vehicles parked in the car park. The stripper and paint will
be removed using a closed high volume, low pressure hot water system. The
water is delivered in a truck, cycled through the pressure head, and
returned with waste to the truck for removal from the site.
We believe that the impact of the process on areas surrounding the Blue
Bowl will be small, so we have not planned to close the Fish Bowl or the
pedestrian walkway along the sea wall. We will do a safety review on
Monday, when the truck is on site, to check this conclusion.
Letting everyone know
I will put up signs at the Skate Park on Friday.
Could you both let your networks know.
Saw the council workers down there today. They only just stripped the shallow end today, so I doubt the whole bowl will be done and dusted by Friday. In my opinion, the need for new coping, or at least sealance to fill in the chips is much greater than new paint.
