Random Question…

Every single member of my immediate family are control freaks! It is very entertaining when we are all together!

And yeah housemates are great on the weekend or when i lived with 10 people - there was always someone to go for a beer with even on a “school night” but it has its pitfalls!

hahaha just for you i would Oz! but think about it lol if when everyones finished eating and the dishwasher is stacked you put the same cutlery in each part, once its dry and you empty it all you can just pick up all the forks and put them in the draw in one go etc lol probably just me being lazy haha

Haha,

But you still have to sort it… gosh in most households it is a nightmare just to get people to take their own plate to the sink - let alone saying… wait please stack you plates and cutlery seperatly and in the correct piles!

My mum is such a control freak we are not allowed to pack the dishwasher! AT ALL. she freaks out if you try to help!

but its packing the dishwasher? what can you do wrong there? (besides the cutlery organisation lol) everything basically has its own section? lol

Avatar

Haha!

Yes true… BUT you can optimise the space by tweeking a few things. My housemate thinks the dishwasher is full and puts it on when in reality we could fit heaps more in there.,.. but hey again I am just happy she but stuff in the dishwasher at all!

Mum would lock the door closed if she could, she would rather people stack stuff in/on the sink the have you put it in the dishwasher!

Same cutlery in the same part of the dishwasher is bad…

Last share house I was in, it was two couples. We made it so we had all our own stuff. Own cutlery draw, own cups/saucers/bowls/pots/pans etc and a fridge for each couple.

We also lived in a place that had 2 bathrooms so you can’t get too grossed out by other people’s habits.

You save sooooo many arguments that way - highly recommended!

I store my glasses face down. I guess my thinking is if you store them upright, you leave the glass open for things like cockroaches or flys or other bugs to crawl into.

Also it makes it harder to knock over glasses when you’re reaching for one.

Glasses are upright!

Toilet paper has to be from under (although the missus prefers over so i change it everytime)

and the dishwasher cuttlery thing Rich, it drives me nuts to, makes unpacking it so much more efficient. Oh and sharp knives facing down in the cuttlery holder.

I say toilet paper should be over lol

No one is ever ready for my spazinput, it’s so spasmodic and conflicts itself, but here goes…

Glassware;
If kept behind glass doors on display (as we do with our multiple crystal ware) UP! (you can’t serve fine alcohol tarnished with dust - the alcohol disinfects anyway)
If not often used DOWN!
If regularly used - leave it rinsed on the sink and use the same cup over and over saving housemate disputes over washing (same goes with plates)
Most restaurants I’ve worked at, store glassware up, most bars hang it (facing down) I’m sure OHS has had a say. But turnover is high and I regularly rotate lesser used glassware (the stuff at the back).

Note; the human mouth carries more disease than most surfaces and our saliva kills most surface germs on contact! then there is stomach acid (a bite from a human is the second most infectious bite you can get (apart from poisonous animals)).
Many surface spray companies invent disease to increase sales. So do mouthwash companies (there’s documented/historical proof).
The kitchen sink carries more disease than a toilet bowl - your sideboard is riddled with disease.

THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY WE HAVE ADAPTED!!!!!!!!

Cutlery; I’ve discussed this with many restauranteurs; Surely it makes sense to keep it in the position they would be placed on the table. Fork on left, knife on right, dessert on left of knife. teaspoon in small section in front (sideways). The restauranteurs tend to agree.

Germ-afobes will never win, we’ve lived with germs for 2, 000,000 years. Ignore any advice they offer. They ARE paranoid. Without our little parasitic friends we will die sooner because we are part of the same ecosystem. Even rats and roaches keep balance by spreading the worse diseases and keep the population workable (black plague) there are too many people for our planet and we should encourage the spread of disease to kill off the weak.

The placement of cutlery and glassware is purely for aesthetic or workable reasons. I can be ocd but it depends on my environment.

You do think too much Oz, but so do I.

The best advice I’ve ever been given was “don’t think” - it works for the greater population. wink
as it says in the bible - “Knowledge increases sorrow”

HaHa Spaz!

Yeah my argument to the germaphobes is that a glass is used far more (and there cleaned!) then the shelves you sit it on (yes even your tee towel TJ!).

More dust (and cockroach poo!) settles on the shelves than in the glass between uses!

I store them down. I do that cause I figure if I grab a glass and bump another one, the bottom of the glass is the strongest point therefore less chance I will smash the lip grin
