Random Question…

... that may cause some debate.

How do your store your glassware/mugs? Up or down?? and why? Googling comes up with some random stuff and a lot of germ-a-phobes so don’t google it if you have a delicate stomach!

It shites me to tears when people put them down ways! Various housemates have done it but in my current living arrangement it is all my stuff so I think I get to choose - yes?? grin

i put them down not really sure why i just do it at my parents house when i was leaving i think it was up….

if its yours i think you can do what ever you like and how ever you like to put them.

UP, im not down with having the lip of the cup on the cupboard shelf. but on the flip side of that if the cup hasnt been used for a while i always give it a rinse first before using it.

Ours seem to change every week. But we keep a clean tea towel underneath (washed quite often) so overall I think its not too bad.

Ha! Surely we all have something that irritates us!

Last night when i couldn’t sleep at 1am it is what i googled!

And Sukah I am with you! And whilst the general consensus seemed to be down online - the germ-a-phobe winner def seemed to be up was cleaner!

Also fact wise the rim of glasswear is the weakest point so practicalities would mean up is safer!

There was debate that bars stored down… I think thats is bogus as it is more that the glasses are washed and stored in the same rack!

Plus the glasses are stored in a rack, therefore the rack is clean as it comes out of the dishwasher and the rim doesn’t touch anything that hasn’t been cleaned.

At my place they are in a draw, so we have them face down (on a rubber mesh mat in the draw) because if they are up right they will rock and clash every time the draw is opened/closed with a bit of force. If I were to have them in a shelf/cupboard I’d probably put them upright.

Bars store them down because they are on moving racks that come straight from the washer and then get stacked at the bar

Exactly - so since that doesn’t apply in the home - it doesn’t make it “right” LOL

K2 the draw = down makes sense for me!

Here’s Another what how do u organise your cutlery draw. Me and missus often debate about the order the knives forks and spoons should be placed, i prefer Spoon, Fork, Knive, Teaspoon (you know the four slot segregaters you can buy at ikea)
i know its a bit ocd but how is you cutlery draw layed out LOLOL

I hate girls that pick out everything you do wrong and have cry about everything aswell!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry

im with Sukah, definitely up, dont know why but this is the way my family has always done it, i know my aunt and uncle store them down but have never really been bothered to question it haha

in regards to the cutlery draw, there is not real order for us and i guess it depends on the way your draw is divided up. For example we have Spoons, knives and then forks and then below where u open the draw theres a section for teaspoons lol

one thing that irritates me is that way people place cutlery in the dishwasher…some people just throw things in the cutlery hold randomly when its so much easier and convenient to have all the forks in one section, the knives in another etc it kills me! lol

haha! Thanks for adding another question and making me look less strange!

I agree with the order you said above…

But i really don’t care about that one at all! But don’t move into my house and change it from what i have… Thats what annoys me the most! My housemates come in and try to change things… no matter who is right or wrong you shouldn’t change what is already in place! Especially when you will probably move out before me…

But different when you move in with a partner… equal say is important… although I don’t know how i will go when i do move in with someone - the glass thing is a no negotiable for me!! LOL

Precious much!! No one was saying males or females… for the record I currently live with a female!

RPS - you crack me up! separate sections for the cutlery!! LOL, but this is what I wanted funny things that we are all pricky about! Either way you spend your time separating it, either when it goes in or when it comes out! But if I lived with you i would do it to make you happy grin But you better put the glasses upright for me!
