The only crap thing about Canberra is the house prices. What we are looking to buy, we could get something twice the size in Melbourne for $60k less.

Depends where you are looking… There is a good and bad side to all places… You can get a house in Detroit for $7000 but you’ll get shot within a week of living there.

Haha exactly, been to Canberra many, many times and the only good things were fireworks (no longer available) and the $1 drinks at mooseheads and the highway out of there

well I grew up there so I think I’m well placed to make a judgement! I loved the place and still do. Was a great place to grow up…lots of good facilities, resources and infrastructure, beautiful setting so you don’t feel like you’re in a horrible city (population of nearly 350K)...and for a place of its population it definitely still has a community feel to it. The place gets bagged on a lot, but mostly by people who either haven’t spent much time there, or haven’t spent any!
We always used to bag out queanbehole as kids but I’m pretty sure its not too bad a place…better than dapto I’m pretty sure!

Ditto!!! We also get slagged on for all the public servants, but there are Government Departments in all states!!!
Queanbo still gets ragged on, but Charnwood cops it a lot more these days!
Canberra is awesomly placed, 2 hours to the beach, 2 hours to the snow, 3 hours to Sydney, 7 hours to Melbourne. Great job opportunities, just a crap housing marking!
