Switchback Bindings

Avatar

There’s another binding company about to hit the market. I don’t know too much about them other than they’re built by the guys at Bataleon and they’re putting together a really solid team, including the Helgason brothers. I know Finney has seen Kevin Sansalone rocking them around Whistler.

SWITCHBACK BINDINGS

The crew behind Bataleon Snowboards is happy to announce that they will present their latest project SWITCHBACK BINDINGS at SIA and ISPO this winter.

Much like their patented Triple Base Technology resulted in the industry taking a critical look at their baseshapes, they now claim that SWITCHBACK BINDINGS will for ever change the way we look at snowboard bindings.

They will take the snowboard binding market head on with a series of patented technology that will put some serious question marks behind the way bindings have been done up till now.

“SWITCHBACK BINDINGS is just all about the rider. We aim to create a more flexible buying and riding experience for the consumers instead having to deal with a set of specs/features that a Brand decides.

SWITCHBACK puts the riders in the drivers seat and allows them to purchase and ride a binding that is 100% customized for them. It will shake up the way we see bindings being sold right now ” says Dennis Dusseldorp (Director).

Danny Kiebert (Creative Director) adds: ” We work very close with our riders (names to be dropped soon.. hold your breaths it’s going to be crazy) and their input on product like this is awesome and key to the future of snowboarding.

New ideas should arise on the slopes strapped to your board and not pulled out of a sweaty office chair ass. Feels good to be writing another page in the book of snowboarding”.

Expect to see the first bindings on the floor FALL 2012.

I think they LOOK awesome, but they don’t really offer much that’s new in terms of performance.

Without knowin the full details, if they are a fully customizable build I reckon that will be a pretty attractive option!!!!!

OK, credit where credit’s due. Switchback have got a patent pending on their ladders/straps - which are formed in pre-curved positions that angle them out away from the binding so they’re not in your way when entering. NICE!

(and it really is one of those “Why didn’t they think of that before???” kind of situations)

Is it just me or do they look really cheap and plastic-ie?

Rome bindings use a stretchy piece of rubber on the outside of the ankle straps to hold them open when stepping in. I always thought it was a really good idea. Looks like these guys found a different way to do it. Thanks for posting the photos, chucky.

Something new for us kiddies to get our hands on. I am always keen to see new product coming into the market that challenges conventional binding setups. Be very interested in seeing how the response of the bindings will be. Both consumer and riding.
