The (binding) future is NOW! - Now Bindings

Avatar

These bindings have really got me interested. First, because I’m a huge sufferer of foot cramp, and secondly because I can’t really figure out the tech behind them.

From what I can tell, there is a slight mech advantage in the hinge system, but totally at the expense of responsiveness. Not sure where you’re going with the pressure distro bizo, the force is the same regardless of whether it’s concentrated at a point or distributed along an edge. Agree with the snow getting caught and the rail stuff too.

Real lack of info on them (ok, only put 5min Google time into it..). All I have been able to find is YouTube testimonials from the owner of the company and his mates on how ‘rad’ they are.

All I can see with these bindings is that they give you the sensation you are skateboarding on the snow. Hope I’m wrong, it’s about time some new tech came out, other than new step-in systems doomed for failure.

Ok I will put my hand up if it has to be done, I will volunteer to be the test dummy for these on all expenses paid trip to Tahoe tomorrow for 2 weeks….............................

Seriously it has nothing to do with the 5 ft of snow they’re about to get.

And Mizu, I’m still waiting for my picture, judging from your other pics floating around here, other than your head, I would say the rest of your hair grows like the lawn in Spring yeah?

I don’t think they will be available to the Australian consumer market by the time of the Shred. I’ll try to stay up to date with what’s happening with the brand. If it can be organised, I will do it.

This should shed some light on who’ll be distributing NOW bindings - the pic is from a YES 2013 photoshoot.

Yes, “the force [exerted] is the same regardless of whether it’s concentrated at a point or distributed along an edge” - BUT any force that’s “concentrated” on a smaller area places much more pressure on that area than if the same force is “distributed” over a larger area.

Open your mouth wide, and and breathe out as hard as you can. Then repeat, but breathe out as hard as you can through a drinking straw instead. Same force exerted - MUCH more pressure.
