They look like they have some weird hinge in the middle but it doesn’t appear to be functional. . .
It’s functional. Imagine the binding is a see-saw with its ends at the toeside/heelside edges. The fulcrum is fixed to the board via metal brackets extending from the binding disc - which extend up to the axis point (the round fluoro circular thing).
Unless I’m still missing something that sounds like it might get downright scary when flatbasing at speed across flatter areas?

It’s probably important to note that although the bushings (two each at toeside/heelside) come in three different ‘softness’ ratings, even the ‘softest’ ones are really hard - so they won’t budge unless a reasonable amount of pressure is placed on them.
^ An observation from someone who’s just tested some of these bindings:
“Handflexing them they had no more give from the board than any binding would. In fact I’ve ridden “normal” bindings that I was able to pull further off my board than these with my hands. Significantly further.”
I’ll be checking these out…in 2014
So 2013 will set aside for a pair of FLUX’s?????
Never give up Mizu hahah
Some people have likened me to a terminal disease!!!!!
Mizu, it begs the question, why do you like flux so much? I just don’t see the point, they seem to be about the same as every other binding out there!
Thought I spotted a pair of these on whis the other day when I was at work.
Interesting tech thats for sure, but I just wonder what happens if you get heavy snow/ice caught under it when turning.. wouldn’t it then be a hinderance? Just thinking of my malavitas with the reflex and whenever I lift the bed off it straight after riding theres Ice/snow all through the empty sections.

What’s not to like????? FLUX were the originator of the “Toe Mask”, they have buckles that work with ease, they have “UU Fit” ankle straps that are anchored inside the heel cup of the base, rather than comin out of a slot, therefore givin it a tighter/more conformed/comfortable fit around any boot!!!!! Although they look like any other binding, they are a company that have introduced a lot of great tech to the sport and continue to do!!!!!
Bein Japanese owned and made also is a bonus in my mind, as the Japanese take pride in what they make and are willin to back themselves when things go wrong with their products!!!!!
While all boards look the same, it’s kinda like your love for Lib-Tech and it’s C2 and Magne?????

Do they actually pivot enough to make a gap between the bushings?????
I wonder when the bushings wear (Just like a skateboard), will they have a noticeable difference in performance/feel????? And if they will have to be replaced often under the huge stresses and temp differences they will go through????? Just creatin another thing to deal with if/when one of the bushings fail!!!!!
Toe Mask like toe cap you mean Mizu? I thought Technine was the inventor.
Yeah skip, FLUX even have the US Patent on it!!!!!

From someone who’s tested them:
“I couldn’t see a way for snow to pack itself in under it. We didn’t ride deep pow but there was some fresh snow and when I popped it open at the end of the run there was none that had gotten inside. Should it ever happen it’s so easy to access and clear it out. Again though, I can’t foresee that being a problem.”

that’s weird since there’s no way that snow should be able to get in under the fullbed.
Silly Flux: do they actually call their capstraps ‘toe masks’???? LOL Don’t they know masks are for faces?
That’s great that they were the first to file for the patent… golf clap. Doesn’t change the fact that Burton getagrip straps are so awesome.
I tried some union contact pros the other day. They felt awesome except for the straps and buckles.
