Now that ya mention it, I don’t even remember seein ski patrol in Niseko!!!!!
Thats cause you stuck to the green runs Devon…..
Mate I was ridin the “Danger Danger” runs!!!!!
You were the one that took me on the skiers creek traverse, that woulda been faster to walk!!!!! You idiot!!!!!
So, you could say you ere in the, Danger Zone?
Cue Kenny Loggins
Hahahha,
There was a Japanese dude that befriended me and Warren when we were in Niseko, and he was askin us where we were ridin!!!!!
When we pointed out where we had been hittin from the chair lift, he said “Oh, Dangeeerr, Dangerrr”, so he followed us!!!!! Hahahahaaa!!!!!
You should try and escape the whole western feel as places like Niseko and Hakuba are covered in westerners. Try out Nozawa Onsen, Its about an hour away from Nagano. Ive been here for about a month and it is crazy! Huge dumps all the time, in the first 10 days I arrived it dumped about 200+cms and just dumped 40 cms last night. Best powder skiing/snowboarding!
Also food and accommodation here is probably a lot cheaper than Niseko and Hakuba
You can’t deny that Hakuba and Sapporo have made it really easy for Auzzies to get there lol. I want to experience Japan before I start going off to more cultural mountains where I actually have to plan to get there lol.

heard great things about nozawa
its on the radar for my next Japow trip…whenever that is =(
Thanks Humdingling…. it was more of a dig at Bliss telling us about this fab place that he has spent a month at with no supporting pics! Cruel I tell you, cruel!
I’ve only been to Hakuba but I would definitely recommend it. When we were there (one week) it was so quiet we very rarely had to line up, the only days we did was on a Japanese public holiday but still that was cool. I think the whole westerner thing also depends on which resort you hit. We mainly stuck to Happo-One and didn’t see many westerners but when we visited Iwateke it was full of them! Didn’t check out Hakuba 47 though I’m kinda bummed about that… oh well next time :D
re. nightlife - I dont have much of an idea because instead of clubbing we mainly hit the restaurants, izakaya’s and bars. Just got high on choya ume!!!! yummmm you have to try that stuff (aka plum wine). Gives ya a buzz.
Haha, Sorry for being cruel! but heres the place I stayed at and they have a couple photos! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sasa-Nozawa/175818102483070
Heres a video of a mate I was riding with doing some tree runs http://www.newschoolers.com/watch/408540.0/Japan-snow-fences?c=2&o=9&t=2
and heres an edit we made last year! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw3OFFWoS7g
Thanks!
And look even some dual planks for me! Ok your back up in my good books!
Sweet little resort bliss!!!!!
I like the edit that you guys made also!!!!! Should be posted up in here somewhere?????
Looks like Sasa will have to go on the list!!!!! How booked out does the accommodation get?????
Sasa is crazy! Only accommodation on the mountain, first tracks down in the morning even before first aid checks it out! The place gets booked out pretty quickly and it isn’t cheap as well but for its price is worth it, but down in the village there is super cheap accommodation thats super rad as well. Nozawa definitely a place to try out over Niseko and Hakuba and also going for an onsen after a big shred is killer!
also going for an onsen after a big shred is killer!
Ah yes! - this will be my view in Niseko…
