hey everyone i havent ever had my own snowboard before and bought one about 2 months ago and at the moment it is being a dust collector…... and i have noticed that around the nose and tail its starting to develop what looks like rust. i may sound like an idiot but i dont have much of a clue at the moment still learning haha feel free to tell me whats up or what i can do to prevent it.
cheers
its only surface rust. you can use a gummi stone to polish it off. wax a bit onto the edges if your storing it or rub some wax along the metal edge.
Yeah spreading the wax over the edges when ironing if you’re about to store the board helps. When you ride most of it will come off too, except the nose and tail, which doesn’t really have the same contact with the snow. Shouldn’t really be a big deal. My first board got pretty rusted pretty quickly but was only surface rust.
Yeah it’s a pretty normal thing. Nothing to worry about it.
Like cable tie said, gummy stone the nose and tail so u remove the rust but don’t sharpen it. And the side edges u can use a sharpening tool.
Like the others said, gummy stone to remove it (most of it will come off when you start riding) and a storage wax to prevent it. You should always storage wax your boards when they aren’t being used over the summer. Your local snowboard shop can do this for you or you can do it yourself. Storage waxing guide here.
Thanks guys really helps I will get straight onto it am I better of to learn now how to do it or get it done at a shop? That is waxing it and all.
Always better to learn to do it yourself.
Follow this guide (below) and if you have any questions, let me know.

as everyone has said, a little surface rust is no problem..
keep this in mind when you strat using it again tho: never pack it away wet!
always dry the board thouroughly before packing it away.
I was silly enough to leave my wet boards in their bags in the back of my car for only 2 days, and when i got them out they were not only covered in rust but the insides of my bags were all rust stained as well!
Took me ages to clean the bags out, and then i had to re surface the edges on both boards again. (I had only done it the day before I rode)
Learn from my mistakes.
I’m never too lazy to unpack the car now.
ah man that sucks yeah it is new never even been near snow so i am stinging to go. and yes learn from mistakes i will defs be unpacking the car early now thanks!
metal scrapers are for ptex repairs… use a plastic type
The post above yours is just spam, cabletie!!!!!
Even a metal scraper won’t get rid of that type of shit!!!!!
i know have an iron and wax and a stone so all good thanks for the help guys
Did you buy a real iron or just a go-lo piece of crap… cause they work just fine lol.
i bought a real iron haha my brohter and i split it so wasnt too costly for the few things which is good.
