Ohhh, but do they still have gaiters?????

Yep. The cuffs work as normal. The pow grip tucks into a little pocket on the inside of the sleeve when you’re not using it. When it’s out, your glove goes through, then you can tighten the cuff.

Here’s some good news…

Rider’s Blog: Day 14

I tried to beat the crowds today and wen’t up for an afternoon shred. Pretty much got straight on the lifts (Red or Emerald) when riding as a single. The snow cover has improved a bit since a couple of days ago. It’s just soft enough to sink in a decent edge in most places. Quite a few people on the hill, lots of beginners and intermediates cruising slowly down the hill. The snow was best to the sides of runs which also happened to have the least traffic. I was able to bomb a few rally quick runs down the sides. Surprisingly, I didn’t see any Mountain Safety on any of the main trails. The ride down to Creekside was really nice. They’re pumping the snow guns again and the cover is in nice shape.

Just hanging for this storm on the weekend. It looks like it should bring the goods. I have a friend from Australia visiting for a few days starting Monday. He’s from Sydney but he’s been working in Toronto for the last couple of months. Hasn’t skied in 10 years, should be fun times.

Also, Michelle bought me a copy of the new advanced/expert edition of ‘Ski and Snowboard Guide to Whistler Blackcomb’. It’s sick, I’d highly recommend it. Review here.

I remember seeing that book in some shops last season, Jeremy. Not sure if it was the original edition though. I read the review. I’m sold - I want to get my hands on one! Is there lots of runs you do/don’t know about?? I imagine there is heaps in there for Blackcomb that you’re unaware of, but what about Whistler? You always knew that mountain really well.

Yeah for sure, I’m learning new areas every time I read through a few pages. Sometimes I know the area really well, but I didn’t know the different run names or where I would end up if we kept on pushing the traverse before dropping in etc. It shows so many different drop in points for areas like Flute Bowl etc. I haven’t even got to the Blackcomb pages yet. I’m sure there’s heaps I will learn. I think this edition only came out this year - they even talk about the pay parking issue and give you advice on where to park on a powder day haha. It’s worth getting, Dan. You can have a read through mine and see if you want one.

Great to finally some snow on the forecast.

Had the day off work today and got up the hill for a few hours this afternoon and did some laps of red and garbo. Cloud was definitely increasing and there was some very light snow falling up top. To mix it up went out on the Chemical Storm board today, forgot just how much fun it was to ride.. Just need a bit more time to get used to being on a rocker again hahaha

Rider’s Blog: Day 15

11cm of fresh snow overnight was enough to get me up early. It was really nice to hear the sound of avalanche bombs going off in the morning - always good times ahead.

I burned a couple of runs through Franz’s Meadow. The snow was finally deep enough to spray some deep turns. In areas, the snow was almost knee high. There were barely any tracks through there too.

The lift lines were starting to get too big so I did a couple of runs down to Garbanzo - no wait, straight on my own chair. Red and Emerald were backed up!

Went up to Peak when it finally opened. Visibility was low and it was icy in a few areas (windblown), although the snow was super deep where it was all collecting. I headed over to Bagel Roll and scored an excellent powder line down to Highway 86 - really fresh and deep. There’s some really nice side hits forming on the side of upper Highway 86.

I tried in vain to catch up with Marc a couple of times but we were constantly out of sync (my bad) and they lift lines weren’t helping. It sounded like he was having a great day though! As much as I wanted to head up Peak again, I couldn’t do the lift line at Red. So I did several Garb laps till my legs went to jelly. Orange Peel also has some nice side hits forming on the side. With a bit more snow, there’s going to be hits all over the place.

Overall, a super fun day. Really missed the Octotocker today - would have been perfect conditions for it.

Sorry Mizu, I didn’t take any photos today (wanted to ride light). I’ll get some photos over the coming days and we have more snow on the way.

Who else was riding today?
