Packing Tips for Shred Trips!

Avatar

I hear you Humdingaling - thats what i thought as well. But when I go into my booking and check the box of ski equipment there is a ‘?’ and clicking on that read this.

Snow skis and snowboards must be protected in a ski bag. If the snow skiing equipment and your checked baggage exceed your checked baggage allowance, airport excess baggage rates apply.
No more than one pair of skis, one pair of stocks/poles and one pair of ski boots is permitted per passenger.

dont know about skis but we’ve done multiple boards many times

even with jetstar and tiger!

yeah didn’t think they would open the bag to check - but 3 ski’s would rattle more than a couple of boards!

well it does say per passenger
there is 3 of you so 3 pairs =)

I like the way you think!!

those people using double decks are going north america (which allows 2 checked in bags) or going in couples 1 checks in snowboard bag other the double deck

plan it before hand
you should be able to fit all your regular clothes into a duffel or backpack for under 10kg
you really dont require much going out clothes…

boots/board/binders/helmet and 1 set of outerwear + wheelie gig + any other misc snowboarding stuff < 20kg
you can always just wear your jacket on the flight

humdingaling thank you that is what i wanted to know.

Yup Yup. Although we are going to Europe which is one bag at 23kilos.

Those bags I linked are for Baggage not carry on and yes My board bag takes mine and monsters ski’s/board and ski gear, and the other bag takes our clothes etc.

and the hubby has heaps of room for all my shopping smile I also learnt alot from travelling to the states last year and will be taking a lot less clothing. (2 pairs of ski pants (each) aren’t needed).

Remember as a female, you are allowed your carry on and your handbag (I TAKE THE BIGGEST ARSED HANDBAG I CAN FIND).

ive learnt from my experience of overseas trips

you really only need 1 set of outerwear
2 pairs of pants if your a “sitter”
when it snows overseas its generally not the “wet” snow (aka sleet or rain) anyway

and if your gear does get soaked…mad excuse for new outerwear LOL

Avatar

I wish I owned 2 sets of outerwear!

Actually I do now… only a recent acquition LOL but i wouldn’t even think of bringing two sets… I don’t even own two pairs of jeans! I don’t understand the people who own 10 pairs!

i packed all my outerwear, then realised “im so not going to need it all, and plus im sure i will buy some gear whilst im here” so i only brought one set of outerwear.
